It doesn't seem wise of a physician to suggest steroids if they were the cause of your cardiac issues. What are they thinking?

Are there not PMP in Virgina? I would certainly look into that possibility. It is difficult to beleive that no one prescribe medications for chronic pain. Possibly you just have not found the right clinic.

I am sorry that I do not know the state nor their practices. Hopefully a member will see this post with more information than I have and respond.

Good luck to you.

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble find a phsyician to treat your pain.  I know it's hard moving to a new area and having to start all over with new docs.

One suggestion I have is to call the local hospital and ask them if they have a physician referral service.  Many hospitals do and they would be able to give you the names and numbers of doctors in your area that treat chronic pain.  I will tell you that quite often it takes a while to get into a new pain mgmt doc, so don't plan on it being a quick route.  Sometimes, though, if you tell them that you just recently moved to the area, have no doctor here, and are worried about w/d from a medication you've been on for years, they will find a way to fit you in sooner.

I live in Fredericksburg, Virginia, but used to live in Herndon, VA.  It's been quite a while since I lived up that way, but I know there are two good hospitals around the No VA area - Fair Oaks Hospital and Fairfax Hospital.  i don't know how close either of these are to you, but either one of these might be a place to start.

If the hospitals don't have a referral service, you can also look in the yellow pages of the local phone book (or even online) for pain managment clinics/doctors.

I wish you the best of luck!
