I had my galbladder removed on 6-20-11. After a horrifieing 911 call due to what i thought was a heart attack at 27 years old. the last 2 weeks or so i have felt fine. but the last 3 days i have had SEVERE pain in my right side. just about were my lowest rib bone is. its a deep pain. and its on going, no breaks. Its causing me difficultys taking in a deep breath and even some normal breaths, as well as extreme uncomfortableness sitting, standing, or laying in certain positions. can anyone help me and tell me if this is a problem?

Thank you both for your comments. I have contacted my surgens office today, he is in the OR today so i wont be able to speak with him until tomorrow. When I first ended up in the ER last month i was told all my pain was due to those loose stones in my duct. They sceduled a scope to be done to find the stone. Unfortunatly I do not react well to the anistisia (sorry for my poor spelling) So they were not able to do the scope test. They decided to admit me for 2 days so I could recieve IV antibiotics. I then had the four small incision surgery and had my gall bladder removed. And they told me I was all set. I even got to go home 6 hours after surgery. the following few days i was sore and it took almost 2 weeks for the dull pain in my side to disappear. Now in the last few days it has come back with a vengence. Its much worse than it was after surgery. As I said before its to the point were breathing is painful. As well as sitting, standind, or laying in certain positions. I have a 14 month old daughter that I have to take care of and I am curious if just lifting her or bending to play  ECT, may have injured something. Or if there is something actually wrong. Any and all sugestions are appreciated so much. thank u

Hi Nikki,

Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your returning pain.  It's not "normal" to have severe pain at this point of your recovery.

As suggested above it may be a stone. Sometimes these stones are missed that lay in one of the ducts. Contact your surgeon today. Explain the extreme pain you are experiencing. They may be able to see you today.

If your surgeon is unable to see you today I would contact your PCP.  At the least you need pain control until they are able to get to the root of your pain.

Please let us know how you are doing, I'll look forward to your updates.

Best of Luck,
Tuck

I had mine out 14 years ago and still get ghost pains occasionally...but what you are describing sounds more like a stone possibly lodged in the duct...can sometimes happen when the gall bladder is removed...call your doc and see if they can do a scope to check!!!  good luck
