The procedure I had on Oct 2nd (radio frequency obliteration) (nerve block) is still 'healing as of today (10/11/12). I still have pain but it takes a while for the result of this procedure to take full effect. I know in the past, I did have relief but at present my body doesn't know what to do. I do know that the nerves take a while to respond to what has happened but during this process, my nerves think there is still something there and are reacting but I look forward to relief soon. I will keep you posted on the changes.
I just had a radio frequency obliteration (nerve block) yesterday. In the past these procedures have helped. My last procedure was about a year ago and I have seen improvement with this procedure but remember, the nerve does grow back. Basically the procedure is an IV with saline and that is where they inject the pin medication. Under a fluoroscopic procedure, they inject needle or and add medication to the site injected. I was sedated for this procedure and have never had complications. I have has this procedure about three times already and happy with the results. I don't know what medication they inject to the site but check out 'radio frequency obliteration' (nerve block) and see if it explains anything. I had this procedure done to my SI joint area of my hip which gives me constant pain. Also check out the piriformis muscle. Many doctors do not understand this tiny muscle that creates so much pain but an orthopedic doctor should be familiar with this procedure. I had this procedure (nerve block) done by my pain management team. Hope this info helps.
