I do have a refill left on the script. I just called CVS and talked to the pharmacist and they stated that it is a 30 day script and that they would need to call the dr. office and have them over-ride the reason for getting the script filled early. I'm not sure why the nure Erin would tell me it's only a 22 day script when I knew it was a 30 day script (just could tell how it was written) so I have a couple of options, I can let the pharmacist call the dr. who would approve the new script to be called in early (which I hate to bother the doctor again, but he should give me a script that will last 30 days) I've still got plenty left, if I start taking 2 every six hours, I will make it for the thirty days but just will still have some pain but maybe I can deal with that. I know there is one conversation I need to have with the dr. he needs to make sure I have coverage for the whole 30 days, the prescription I take is only 325 of tylenol so it's not a concern of taking too much during the day. So, I have some things I can think about. My concern with the whole situation that just happened with the "letter" whoever that came from is to not rock the boat with my insurance company since I still have plenty of medication to go around. I even have some tramadol (could see if it still dilates my eyes) ha, ha) but I am just kidding. But thanks for all your advice on my migraine, can't wait to get that root pulled out tomorrow, I am more than ready. I definitely know the pain in my head is overshadowing my neck and arm pain.
I sure hope your migraine subsides before your appointment. Sometimes ice packs will help the migraines.
I hope you feel better soon dear.
Do you by any chance still have the bag/paperwork that came with your prescription when you got it at CVS? If so, on there there is a section that should tell you how many day's worth of prescription you have. Based on taking 2 pills every 4 hours, 180 pills would actually only last 15 days, not even the 22 days that the nurse told you - that, of course, is if you are having to take it 'round the clock and not accounting for any possibility of sleep (which with pain, as we all know, sleep can be VERY elluding).
Do you have refills available on the script or will you need to have the doctor's office call in the refill when you need it? If the doctor's office has to call it in (or give you another handwritten script), you can ask them to notify the pharmacy at that time that based on taking the maximum allowed number of pills on the last script, that they "authorize" this refill with no problems. It still may require a phone call between your doctor and the pharmacist, but there shouldn't be a problem with that. There may, however, be a different situation with your insurance company. If the pharmacy has entered it as a 30 day script, they still may refuse to pay for a refill before that 30 day period ends even if your doctor says it's fine.
If you have refills available on the script and CVS gives you a hard time about getting it filled before 30 days (presuming they HAVE entered it as a 30 day script), you can ask them to review the picture of the script that they all have on their computers. This may or may not get them to fill it before the 30 day period if that's how they've entered it - some clerks/technicians do enter them based on teh lowest dose permitted and others do it based on the highest amount permitted. Personally, I think they shoudl ALL enter it based on the maximum dose permitted - after all, our doctors wouldn't write them for us to be allowed to take that amount if it wasn't ok - why should the pharmcy "second guess" the doctors?
Anyway -I'm getting a little off base here -- one way you can avoid this happenign in the future is when your doc writes out your scripts, ask him/her to write on the script itself how many days worth of medication they are giving you, based on how they expect you to have to take it. Unfortunately, quite often there are many questions regarding scripts when the doctors write them for 1-2 pills or "as needed for pain", but I can understand also why they do write them that way.
As far as the headache goes - I sure hope you feel better real soon. "Regular" headaches can be bad enough, but migraines are just totally the pits. Fortunately, I don't usually get them all that often, but when I do, I just want to curl up and hide in a hole until it goes away. By all means, tooth problems can and do cause headaches, as well as other pains - especially if there is an infection/abscess in the tooth. So hopefully by getting the tooth taken care of, it will also help the headache - if nothing else, hopefully the novacaine from the root canal will give you some relief.
Feel better soon!
Hi Sweetie,
I'm so sorry that you have a BAD Migraine!! It MOST definitely could be your tooth.
Have you not called CVS YET? I thought you were going to do that first thing this morning?
You really need to do this so that you can put your mind at ease.
I'm really sorry that you are having to put up with this Migraine AND your Tooth at the same time. I hate that you problem would cause ANOTHER problem that would make you so sick.
I'll check on you this evening, Sweetie. PLEASE take care of yourself as best you can.
(((HUGS!!))) BUT not to tight as to hurt! :)..Mama Sherry
That's it's a 30 day script? That's why I couldn't figure out why Erin (dr. nurse) would tell me to keep taking two every four hours. Oh my, this is not going to be pretty if I have to call her again.
lol That is fine. I would call CVS and talk to them to put your mind at ease. But that is what they told me where I get my meds.
Jamie
Jamie, yes I just answered you in an email, but I didn't get your text otherwise (you know me) I would have answered you, since I text you so much (ha,ha)....
I asked did you talk to your nurse???? I texted you last night about it too and got no answer :((((
Jamie
I just read your post that you said to Tuck, when I was getting my vics from my PCP it always said it is a 30 day script but I was told they go by if you take the less amount that is when you will run out. Mine was only at 2 week script and I always refilled them when I ran out with no problems at all. And the pharmacy is the one that told me this.
Best of luck
Jamie
Jamie,
OOPS, hon I forgot what the question was? Can you resend it, etc... I totally have forgotten?
BELIEVE ME YES, teeth have alot to do with every single thing in our heads and face. I would talk to the dentist tomorrow about your headaches. I hope you feel better soon.
AND you still haven't answered my question missy!!!
Jamie
I've got an appointment tomorrow at 4pm to have the endodontist look at it and start it. I got no sleep my neck, back, and temple are all killing me I've tried gargelling in warm salt water, I've tried a bath, and even some orajel and I'm feeling like I want to throw out my temple. It's crazy.
Tuck,
I'm glad you answered my message because I'm still figuring out what to do about my prescription that my pmp gave me on the 29th. The prescription reads take 1 or 2 tablets every four to six hours for pain. I told the pain doctor nurse yesterday that I was taking 2 pills every four hours because my neck, arm and shoulder were hurting me. She said that's ok, it's a 22 day script, but I don't think so. It's 180 pills and I think CVS put it in as a 30 day script. I was trying to explain to Erin (the nurse) that I thought it was a 30 day script and she said no Karen it's a 22 day script, because the way that I'm taking these pills I'm going to be out before 30 days, which she told me I was doing nothing wrong. But if CVS has it in as a 30 day script (saying 1-2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours) then what do I do? Do I just wait for the 30 days and get it refilled? I was hoping Erin would call CVS pharmacy and tell them this is a 22 day script but that didnt happen. I told Erin if it was a 30 day script it would be 240 pills. What do I do? Or do I just try to take less until the end of the month when it will be thirty days? Help, you guys...
I agree with Molly. Our teeth can and do effect how we feel. They can trigger or contribute to migraines. Often we forget how connected our entire body is to each and every system within it.
Last winter I had a nasty sinusitis that produced symptoms of severe front tooth pain. After a quick visit to my dentist who assured my my tooth was fine my PCP ordered ATB and the tooth pain disappeared. How would have thought it?
So yes dear your migraine may well be related to your tooth. If it becomes extreme don't hesitate to consult your physician or make a trip trip ER. Just because it is possibly related to your tooth not does mean it is.
Take Care,
~Tuck
YES, I feel that the tooth is the culprit. Teeth that need work can absolutely cause headaches. It's a well known fact. I'm sure that after this is all over with, you will be back to your old self. Til then, hang in there.
My best,
Mollyrae
