Hello Mamadawg,

Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum.

Friends try to be so helpful and are well meaning but always discuss suggestions with your physician.

Suboxone IS used in some instances for pain management but even it's web site states it is not recommended for that purpose. It is a medication to help ease the cravings and withdrawal symptoms of opiate dependancy.

It should never be used with another opiate. It can cause serious complications when used improperly. So I beleive your well meaning friend was off the mark.

I hope you will keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.

Take Care,
~Tuck

NO...Suboxone is a drug to ease withdrawls and combat addict behavior. It should only be used by a Physician and they need a special license to prescribe it. NEVER take it without a Doctors supervision. It can be very dangerous if your currently taking opiates and then ingest Suboxone. Never ever do that.....

My best,
Mollyrae
