2 month old baby weight

Ok so my son is 2 months old, and his pediatrician told me that I am overfeeding him. His weight on Monday was 14 lbs & 15 oz, (about the 83rd percentile) but he had his clothes and a wet diaper. He is 23 1/2 in. long. He has GERD and is drinking Similac Alimentum for now, he has been throwing up a lot since he was 1 month old (but it has decreased a bit now to just 1x a day & its only at night really.) and he will be doing the same maybe until he starts solids at around 4-6 months old. The doctor said it wasn't something to be concerned since he is gaining weight. But he wants me to just feed him 3oz of formula every 3 hours, but my son won't be full with that. I give him about 4 oz, and sometimes 5 depends if he is still hungry (with rice cereal for his GERD, which has helped a lot and he is not spittng up anymore and not throwing up like he used to) When he was born he weighted 7lbs 9oz, at 38 weeks of gestation. Do y'all think I'm overfeeding him? Should I really feed him only 3oz? I know babies drink what their tummies can handle.

I agree with you about the meds at 2 months old he has already had zantac and prevacid .No I haven't heard of it in fact 2 months old seems too young to me for any cereal or solid foods. I would get back to your Doctor for further info ...good luck

He is not really spitting up like he used to with 4oz not even throwing up more than an ounce. See the thing is he can drink only 2oz and be full sometimes 3 but thats only between 2am- 11am. but 4oz keep him full enough to wait for his next feeding (within 3 hours) during the day and night. He was on zantac and that was not helping. Then they gave me precavid but Im not a big fan of medications so I have not giving it to him yet as he seems a little more better with the rice cereal. The doctor told me about an alternative that has worked for his granddaughter called Simply Thick, he wants me to get the thinnest one. But Im still doing research on that, have you ever heard of it?

It could be that he needs less food especially as he is also getting rice cereal , so it may be a good idea to do what the doctor says.,to see.  You will know very soon if its not working, is baby on any kind of med for the GERD ?
