Red cheeks

My 4 and a half year old son has red cheeks and at first i thought it was because of it getting cold but it hasn't gone away! He still sleeps through the night but doesn't want to take his usual naps during the day and seems more cranky!! What could it be and should i take him to his doctor or wait to see if it goes away?
