Chronic pneumonia

My eleven year old daughter suffers from chronic cough, chronic pneumonia.  She has every test known to man ( I think) and a few surgeries, both exploratory and for sinus surgery.  Despite being treated by a team of doctors, no one can pinpoint a reason for the continuing pneumoias.  She has been tested and treated for reflux, asthma, sinusitis, immunology.  She is becoming resistant to antibiotics and we are very frightened for her.  Anyone been through a similar issue, or is she the only medical mystery out there?

Has she been checked to see if she is aspirating? Has she had a lung wash? Has she seen a pediatric pulmonologist? Any other associated problems? Respiratory distress? Problems with weight/height that might be associated with chronic pneumonia? How are they diagnosing the pneumonia? By sound or by x-ray? My best advice is to research, research, research, and look into every possibility. Sometimes doctors don't think outside the box because they are so busy. Also, you should check out the parent-2-parent website. Very knowledgable parents over there, of medically complex children....and some medical mysteries as well. Good luck!
