Glad you have the appt , yes please post to let us know ... hope all goes well .
Tachycardia isn't a permanent thing. It is a transient SYMPTOM of something else. Anytime you have a resting heart rate over 100 beats per minute, you have tachycardia.
The important thing is to know what is causing her heart to race and whether or not she is also having cardiac arrhythmias.
We have an appointment for a second opinion on Wednesday! Keeping my fingers crossed that this doctor will do the proper test! So we know if she has tachycardia or not... Thanks for all the advise with this matter. I will post what they did and said Wednesday evening....
just touching all avenues for her being upset by anything which can be a cause of palpitations , I asked about a sibling because sometimes it is not like all kids having problems , older ones can really tease and bully the younger child .You would know that though so that's not it, I suggest that you get a further opinion and further tests..something is going on and requires further looking at in my opinion .
She isn't in school right now. She seems really tired here lately. She has a brother and they get along. They have there sibling problems like all kids!
She is at school how long for, any problems with school, does all seem well has she any siblings ?
My daughter is 5 years old. And no she isn't on any medications.
I think you should go back and ask some more questions and indeed if not satisfied ask for another opinion and further testing ..seems you came away with little information .and of course are concerned .How old is she ? One other thought is she on any meds for anything else ?
Tachycardia means fast (tachy) heart (cardia). A resting heart rate over 100 beats per minute is tachycardia.
Often, a single ECG will not reveal a problem (although, to be fair, most serious problems WILL show up). If this was my child, I would want the cardiologist to do an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) as well as a Holter monitor (a heart monitor she would wear for a day or so that would record all heart activity for that time and therefore show any transient arrhythmias).
The doctor should also do a complete thyroid panel (hyperthyroidism can cause tachycardia).
