HELP!

I need some help. Today I took my daughter to her doctor because she had been complaining of her heart racing. And when  I would feel her pulse it was beating very fast.  Her pulse at the doctor today was 125. So they sent her to a cardiologist. The EKG came back normal, her pulse at the time of the test was 90.  The doctor came in and took a listen to her and it was around 105.  He asked several questions that we did answer and he explained that he wanted us to watch her. And if her pulse got to 200 to call the office.  When we walked out of the office we read the paper with the diagnosis codes, it said that she had tachycardia.

Someone please help. I want a second opinion, because this didn't seem normal to me.  Thanks for the advise in advance!

Tachycardia isn't a permanent thing. It is a transient SYMPTOM of something else. Anytime you have a resting heart rate over 100 beats per minute, you have tachycardia.

The important thing is to know what is causing her heart to race and whether or not she is also having cardiac arrhythmias.

just touching all avenues for her being upset by anything which can be a cause of palpitations , I asked about a sibling because sometimes it is not like all kids having problems , older ones can really tease and bully the younger child .You would know that though so that's not it, I suggest that you get a further opinion and further tests..something is going on and requires further looking at in my opinion .

I think you should go back and ask some more questions and indeed if not satisfied ask for another opinion and further testing ..seems you came away with little information .and of course are concerned .How old is she ? One other thought is she on any meds for anything else ?

Tachycardia means fast (tachy) heart (cardia). A resting heart rate over 100 beats per minute is tachycardia.

Often, a single ECG will not reveal a problem (although, to be fair, most serious problems WILL show up). If this was my child, I would want the cardiologist to do an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) as well as a Holter monitor (a heart monitor she would wear for a day or so that would record all heart activity for that time and therefore show any transient arrhythmias).

The doctor should also do a complete thyroid panel (hyperthyroidism can cause tachycardia).
