Red smooth rash

My 18 mth old son has 2 big red smooth spots above his butt on his lower back. He has had it for 2 days. It doesn't seem to bother him. I just never seen a smooth rash before. Can you tell me what it is?

Thank you! I don't know what it could of been from but, it was gone this morning.

Has he had anything pressing on that area ,have you used a new cream, lotion or anything on his skin that he maybe allergic to ? The best thing is to see if it goes away soon, if he itches it, if it changes and of course if he seems unwell, loses his appetite, then I would say take him to the Doctor to be checked out .good luck
