I have a 3 year old girl that is suffering from constapation since she was 2 going 3 and is now going 4 in march i need advise as iam losing the plot iam at my wits end and cant cope anymore so stressed at my daughter and i know its not her fault.
My daughter since i started to potty train not to the point where i was making sure she was off nappies i wasnt too bothered at the time just tried the odd day here and there to see how she was coping with being able to pee at that point wasnt expecting her to poo in her potty but was encouring her to use her potty and to keep going she did really well but started to hold her poo now is always constapated and is in alot of pain she can sometimes leak alittle poo and often now its soft she eats loads of fruit and veg even trying to get more calcuim into her as she doesnt drink milk but she drinks loads of dulated juice, she can go one day to the next without it bothering her but then she can be in pain for days she went to the loo on sun but then has been in pain since she has finallyt went twice today but while she was in nursery and got her to do a few little poos while before she went to nursery in her potty which was good for her so she be  fine for a day of so and stop shouting at me as she not in pain and can be herself for awhile she is on movical and this keeping her poo soft as used to be very hard but now she either constabated or its running out i cant cope much longer

This is classic encopresis.  Fiber in cereal form,  or metamucil is the answer.

I agree with Brooklyn that it's so odd that doctors fail to notice this,  and teachers too.

It's encopresis.  Chronic constipation that stretches out the bowel and allows for liquid feces to escape around impacted feces.
But Brooklyn - try fiber,  instead of enemas.

i just read that when a child leaks it mean there rectum is full!!!i just went through the same with my 3 yrs. old after i gave enema..i was suppose to give 3 every 1-2 hrs. but instead gave 3 in 4 days.no more leaking..she needs enemas!!!!!! she is full !!!!!! i cannot beleive no dr. has told you this..you may need to do the 3 every 1-2 hrs. and do it right and get it over with..you dont go to a  gastro dr.? its from foods she eats, binding foods like rice bannans.ect..those effect my son....it nothing that a child has other that hard stool and then they hold it back and makes it harder..it is not htat difficult and very suprised taht no dr. has told a few of you this....there is no need a child shoul dgo to the hospital to get an enema, that can be done at home...so as long as she is leasking she is very full, you wull be amazed at how much poop these kids can hold!!!!!!!!!!!!! read my stories..good luck keep me posted.
