Just wanted you all to know that I took zane to the er again.. and it was found that he had a fecal impaction.. he has since passed it.. ( i cant beilieve how big it was) and he will be seeing an allergist..as well as a gastro doc soon...Thankyou so much for all your input!!
You are very welcome I hope he does well , it does sound like allergy .. let us know how he id doing ...
That's great Mama! I should also add that if you continue to see bloody mucous, perhaps a pediatric GI consult should be considered. Good luck!
I ave decieded that I am taking him to his pediatrician and demanding a full panel of allergy testing. he also has intolerance to foods..so i think that food allergy is the way to continue this... the ER doctor that saw him when he had the mucus diarrhea said that is wa most likely due to the antibiotics.. however.. at this stage.. i dont think so.... i think its exactly what you guys aresaying.. hes allergic to alot of food.. and his intestines are tired of it. making the app today. thankyou you guys!!
Yes, I'd say those are definitely hives, and in addition, bloody mucus in stool can be an indication of allergic colitis. Some allergies cause delayed reactions, so it can be hard to track down what is going on. I'd say if he hasn't yet had any allergy testing done, he needs it asap. With allergies, they can develop at any time. You likely won't see any reaction on the first exposure. With each exposure, the reaction can and likely will get worse. My daughter ate eggs for a couple of months before her first anaphylactic reaction. She requires an epi-pen. On the flip side, viruses can cause hives, and bloody mucus can be caused from the fact that he's been having diarrhea, which could also be caused by a virus. However, I wouldn't say a cold virus would cause this, and one would expect a fever with a virus causing his symptoms....what does his bloodwork say?? Any infections anywhere??
I would say your next step should be an pediatric allergy specialist. Start keeping a food diary and any symptoms, as well as ANYTHING you can think of in terms of his health. A lot of time, people don't realize that poor growth, poor behaviour, poor learning, poor development in general can be associated with allergy, as well as poor sleep, reflux, asthma, ear infections, tonsil/adenoid problems, etc.
Good luck
It could be a food allergy as from what I can see it looks like hives, is the rash itchy?
i also want to add.. no fever but he was sick with what we thought was a simple cold.cough about a week and a half ago... no high fevers... he was happy... but he that is when he began with the loss of appetite.. even today... when offered his favorite pudding.. he said .."no mommy.. dat makes my butt hurt." i gave him the benadryl.. and willl take him in the am to his dr as his dr instructed.. just wierd.. how it just seemed to pop up.. anyone who has any experience with this?
