My 18 month old is only about 20lbs. He was over this at 1 year of age, but lost a significant amount of weight during a very nasty virus that lasted over 3 months. He was and is being monitored by his pediatrician. My concern is this. He was doing a great job of gaining, but he and I were travelling for 2 weeks. We were in a part of the country where they are experiencing a serious heat wave (we are not at home). He has dropped a bit of weight again. Do you think this could be due to the heat? His appetite was slightly off, but he still seemed to eat fairly well. He hasn't seemed ill in any way with the exception of a very runny nose (mostly green, sometimes clear). He has a Dr.'s appointment Tuesday morning, but am wondering if anyone else has experienced weight loss during extreme heat. Is it normal for very active toddlers to have weight flucuation, or is it more like infants where they gain steadily, just at a slower pace? Thanks so much.
