Son is becoming more harder to handle

My son is 8 years old. We have been having issues with him since he was little. He regularly "forgets" to wipe himself after using the bathroom, always using the excuse "oh I forgot". He has a huge obsession with animals, we have two cats and I cant count the times in a day that I ask him to "put the cat down" or "leave them alone". He also has an obsession with war, like ww1 and ww2. Mostly all his drawing are tanks, helicopters, army men.. he does have issues with peers. If his friends have a different opinion than him, he gets mad, and loses control. Numerous times the school has called home because my son has hit another student because that student "wouldnt let him talk, or listen to him". If his friends dont play how "he" thinks the game is to be played then he gets quite upset. On the other hand, he is very smart, can read well above his grade level, very good at spelling. However, he cannot sit in school like the rest of his peers. What the school tells me about his actions and behaviour, I dont see at home, its like he is a totally different child so its hard to believe what they say. Repeatly we have to remind him how to sit at the table, as when he eats the floor gets most of it because he is messy at eating?? I have to ask him everyday if he has put underwear on while getting dressed, and he always replys with "oh I forgot". He does wet the bed, he tells me that he cant wake up when its time to go. He use to have accidents during the day with going number 2 in his pants, and he would use the i forgot excuse but he started saying that he couldnt feel it... I have taken him to the doctors, and we are heading back there soon next week.. however, this week, he came home from school and he was sent to his room to clean it and since he was not happy about it, i believe that he started/tried to hurt himself... i asked him about it, and he said that he was banging his head around and must of hit below his eye (i seen a mark on his face after he threw his fit about cleaning his room).... im frustrated as to what this could be, i was thinking along the lines of aspergers, or add/adhd... any ideas??
