high tyrosine level

My daughter is 2 weeks old .. We have conducted the new born screen test on her 7th day. The results came abnormal with high tyrosine level 322uM. We have repeated the test on the 12th day. The tyrosine has dropped now to 270uM. Which is still above the normal level [10-200uM].

I am really worried about my daughter and I would appreciate it if some one explains this behavior me and advise of the next step ...

Thanks

We got a call from doctor’s office that new born screening results came abnormal. She had elevated tyrosine levels  and we got very scared .
• She was born at 34 W 5days and our pediatrician told us most of the time results are false positive in premature babies and he told us to retest.
• We did retest at 7th days which came +ve as well still doctor told us to do one more test . She didn’t had any other symptoms.
• We did one more test but it was not conclusive and we went to genetics where they did complete blood work. It was very scary for so many days.
• After waiting for more than one week we got a call from doctors that she don’t have any underline cause it seems that levels are high due to prematurity . Level came down but they were still above normal so she asked us to retest after one month.
• We did retest and everything came back to normal . It was very scary few months . Thank God everything was good.
• Hope this help to other parents who are going through same .

I saw your post regarding your daughter's tyrosine levels.  I am curious to know how she is doing?  Did her levels drop within the normal range?  I hope all is well with your daughter.

I've heard of having low levels of tyrosine, but not real high levels of the hormone. I think they will most likely just do the wait and see approach. The levels will most likely keep dropping until they reach a normal level. Just keep up with the regular check ups to watch the levels. good luck!
