Son's sore bottom

My 6 Year old has a very sore bottom. It's very red with large sores on his cheeks. Any idea what this could be?

I actually just took him to the doctor. Found out he has strep. Thanks

Could be a bacterial or fungal infection. I'd advise using an antibacterial barrier cream like sudocrem (nappy cream) on it for now, and if it's no better in a couple of days, take him to the doctor.
