need advice asap, 3 wk old.

Serious question needing a serious answer and an answer that you can accurately give! My two yr old dropped my 3 wk old son off the couch. I heard the thud and heard him whimper and start cryin as she was tryin to pick him up off the floor as I can runnin in here. He stopped cryin as I held him and fell back asleep. I'm begging to know signs I should look for incase its more serious. Will he have brain damage or become retarded because of this?? I'm desperate for real answers and terrified at this point. Should I call his on call dr?? Pls help me I'm a very very concerned mommy!! Thank you so much!!

Thanks so much!! No just to the floor. After I held him and he went right back to sleep, hes seemed just fine.

Falling off the couch is probably not going to harm the baby, even if the baby was assisted by a two year old.  It's not like the 2-year-old could lift the baby up and swing him, or anything.  Do you have any evidence the baby hit something sharp, like the sharp corner of a table, with his head?  If not, just keep your eye on the baby.  Unusual drowsiness, or one pupil dilated and the other not, would be signs worth taking the baby to the doctor over.
