vitamin with iron causes constipation in toddler

Hi, I hae a two year old who is a very picky eater (surprise surprise). He is fond of starches like rice and potatoes but will not eat meat (except chicken tenders). He also likes yogurt and cheese but will only drink about 4 ounces milk a day (and thats a struggle!). I have started to give him half of a flintstones complete vitamin with iron. Unfortunately he is becoming constipated. I gave him one Thursday night and he had no bowel movement until I used a glycerin suppository on Monday (doc orders). So i waited to give him another vitamin until tuesday. Same thing is happening, its Thursday and still no bowel movement. So Im not giving him another vitamin. Im sure its the iron in the vitamin.I hate to stop giving it because I feel that he isnt getting complete nutrition from his diet. Of course, I am trying to add variety to his diet but you guys know how hard that can be when it comes to a 2 year old. Does anyone know what I can do about this?

If he likes cheese grate some up in his rice and a few small peas or similar veg,If he likes yoghort pop some blueberries or other fruit in it, how about one of the Delicious flavored Milks out there,Orange juice today has a lot of Vitamins in it,forget the iron it does make them constipated, Have you tried Fish sticks and let him pick them up,kids do go through the picky stage, back off a bit, say nothing ,let him sit with his food and just get on with what you are doing, make it less of an issue, sometimes they know Mom is concerned and its lovely to have more attention. Make sure he gets enough activitys to get his appetite up.Ton of books out there and the internet with Delicious foods to tempt them.
