rectocele

In early May of this year, the doctor was supposed to do a rectocele with mesh. According to my gynie no mesh rectocele was performed. But there is this knot made out of some kind of material in my vagina facing the rectal side. Like a plastic knotted stitch that has not desolved and it wont. What procedure was done on me? I have not seen the uro that did this procedure--staff wont let me see him so I have seen an associate of his that does not do women surg. He didnt answer my question either concerning what is that knott. Since the surg I have a very hard time going to the bathroom and I now have to use enema's or supp.

there is no doubt that something went horribly wrong with your surgery with these details, you truly should see a different urogynecologist for evaluation. There is no excuse for the horrific behavior of this group, from the urogyn at the top on down they are incredibly irresonsible. From time to time I'll hear from women who have seen urogyns or urologists who "have great reputations" but when you check their references on the watchdog sites, you do find some issues.  I don't care how good a rep a dr has, if he is not acknowledging and attending to a problem that has occurred, he isn't worth a grain of sand as a health care practitioner. I don't care who he/she is or how highly they come recommended. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior.

Mesh/no mesh, the smell issue, no muscle to bear down-all  yikes. Please seek advice from a different urogyn, something needs to be addressed there is no doubt! And please keep me in the loop. Also sending another PM.

Operation report dictated by the operating doc says that a rectocele was performed using the mesh. My gynie doc states that no rectocele with mesh was performed on me. The assoc of the operating doc also said no mesh on rectocel operation. The assoc dr told me to get dress and he would be back in to discuss things, such as what was done, what is that string, and more.  He never came back in-he left me high and dry with no answers too. The nurse aide tech came back in and said the doc said I am free to go after I get dress. I feel I was chopped up--- urethra is exposed now--my inners are now more outside of my body-- A sewer like smell coming from my urine, vag charlie horses, etc.

No before I didnt have a hard time going to the bathroom. I didnt even get a chance to read anything while on the potty.  No lavatives at all. It feels like I have no muscle to push down (bare down) but I can squeeze up. I can feel a ledge and a bulb now present inside of me right pass the annus. That ledge at times hurts.
Same for my urine--no muscle to bare down, but I can squeeze up and do kiegels. I have no control over my urine flow. I can stop my urine flow but i cant control what comes out, as I did before.  If it wants to come out slow and dribble that what it does--even when I think I am full.   Most of the time I cant tell if I have to go, so I have had to put myself on a potty schedule. Some other times the pressure is irrating and I go and sit and hardly anything comes out--
I went to a well known great reputation uro practice. My mother, sister, daughter, and husband all have gone there. My mom had a pop repair and that same doc saw her for her post op visit. This same doc comes highly recommended for pop repairs.

It's truly a flag when a physician who performs surgery won't see his patient, worrysome for sure. It is common to  have hard tissues after POP procedures whether mesh is used or not, it takes a while for the soft tissue to truly get soft again. However after 3 months things should start softening up and typically the stitches have come out. That you are having a difficult time having a b/m is flag too if your diet has adequate fruit in it and you drink enough water. did you use suppositories/enemas prior to surgery? If so you will have to slowly wean off. If not, this needs to be addressed, there actually might be a stitch imbedded. You should have gotten some answers from  someone.

The first step I recommend you take is to contact the hospital to get a copy of your surgical records-you have a right to them; every procedure has a  medical transcript from the procedure itself; what was done. I also recommend you check your drs records on physician watch-dog sites, I'll PM those to you.

If you can't get any answers from this urogyn, it might be a good idea to seek counsel with a different one to see what you can find out. If you did not use laxatives prior to surgery, you should not need them now. PM on the way.
