thanks - yes, we blame weight for everything and then you feel terrible! I would be able to lose more if my feet weren't such a problem...BUT I do have a very thin friend who had this for years with her being much thinner than myself...
I'm seeing a new p/t this evening, we'll see if it can help...massage and breaking up scar tissue seems to help...

Sounds like a good plan...you really can get over this. Weight is not so much an issue. The podiatrist told me he sees it in all sizes. Just takes time and ya gotta be patient....grrrr! Good luck and keep in touch!

i'd love to lose some weight, i think it would help...but i can't do enough to lose it, because of my feet...i want to go back to swimming...
i went from recuperating from a surgery, to running around for other reasons, doing work in the house...barefoot too much...i ignored the problem, hoping resting would help
and yes, we have to be on our feet too much...

I did ice mine and it helped the inflammation. I think it takes a long time to heal because we are on our feet all the time and it aggravates the situation. The taping was serious taping that only the podiatrist could properly do. I would go in about once a week or so and they would re-tape it. In the meantime I would have to wrap my foot in a plastic bag to keep it dry during showers. It was a hassle but it did work. Couldn't wear flip-flops or sandals, or flats or heels for awhile, just my tennies but it was worth it. I did actually also have some orthotics made after I had this in my second foot which was a year or two after the first but I don't know if that is really imperative. They are pretty expensive. I don't wear them now and haven't for the last several years. I'm back to my sandals and flip-flops and have been for a long time.
Just one more thing...when I did have the plantar fasciatis I had been involved in a pretty grueling high-impact aerobics class but I really never thought it caused the problem. I do know that one time stretching my foot in the pool caused a flare-up....or rather I should say "over-stretching."

i feel like i could work on my feet all day! it's just changed my life so much...i'd love to walk for enjoyment outside, i can't...i do have custom insoles, and use dr scholl's gel cups for my heels...i stretch my feet, i do have tape arch supports i should use...i got some good shoes, too...
i am very discouraged with the physical therapist i have been going to...have to change, which is why i asked my question...wish there was more of an answer, i appreciate those here, thanks
Physical Therapy is the most successful treatment for plantar fasciatis. The PT will utilize modalities and hands on techniques to decrease acute symptoms. Stretching and strengthening helps you decrease recurrence rates. Best in health, JAG
I feel for you....I had plantar fasciatis years ago, one foot at a time. I think mine may have started, at least one time, with stretching my achilles tendon. I also, like you, have high arches. Eventually, I had to go to the Dr and have my foot taped. That worked in the long run, I also had to have steroid injections in my foot a couple of times. But it was worth it. I finally got rid of it and it hasn't come back in the last 10 yrs or so. Took a lot of ibuprofen also. I would go easy on the stretching. Good Luck!
I had plantar fascia a few years ago , I had it massaged nd massaged it myself as often as I could it went on for several months then one day It had gone .
i do have inserts, and have seen doctors and had the tests...
