Other than Mylicon is there anyway to eliminate gas.  My little one is miserable all the time and he is having trouble passing gas.  He has also had loose watery stool for 4 days now.  I called the Ped. yesterday and they said as long as he is eating and peeing he should be fine and the diarrhea will run its course.  Could he have a virus?  Any suggestions?  He seems so miserable.  I need the crying to stop.

Is the stool very loose or is just like a little bit of water coming out?  I know one time I thought our son had diarrhea when he was actually just constipated.  Being that I breastfeed him I had to change my diet around a bit because I was getting too much iron and it was causing constipation--- so I stopped taking the one prenatal I was taking and within a week he was back to normal.

Patting his back though while he was over my shoulder always helped to get the gas out too.  Good luck and let us know what worked :D

The Playtex Airflow bottles with a curve have worked great for my girls and their gassiness. Just make sure that you burp her really good after her feedings otherwise he will get a tummy ache and will be very fussy after feedings.

We also lay our girls on their tummy's and they love it!

My daughter is very gassy and can get super fussy as well. The mylicon drops work at times for her, but my pediatrician recommended gripe water. It's non-medicated and it's just an herbal remedy to help with gas & fussiness. You can buy it at any store (wal-mart is cheapest) and it's made my little remedies. It works wonders for her. We give it to her at night in her bottle & when she takes it, she's not fussy or gassy at all.

And also like someone else said, we lay her on her belly a lot and she's not fussy one bit.

You can try giving your baby chamomile tea. That usually relieves baby's tummy. My daughter had the same problem during our vacation to Mexico so I took her to a doctor and gave me some baby drops. Those really helped her. I don't think they sell those here but they are call "Espaven". I even used them on my oldest and it helped her as well.

Is he still breastfed? If so, it might not even be diarrhea. Is the stools mucous like green, foul smelling and frequent? I remember thinking my babies were, but breastfed babies will naturally have bowel movements similar to it. Does he have a fever at all? If so, (among other signs) a virus would be suspected.

A few ways I found to help relieve gas is by laying baby on their belly (this works wonders for my daughter) or you can do baby crunches. You hold them under the chin and sit them back, and then just have them do crunches. After that you sit them straight up, pat the back for a minute and see if it helps to expel the air. You can also lay him on his back and move his legs like he's on a bike. This helps to expel gas as well. I hope he starts to feel better soon!!

I feel for you. My son cries all the time because of gas. I also try bicycling his legs and putting a bit of pressure on his tummy. Look up infant massage and you could watch videos of it. Do you breastfeed or bottle feed?
