Can cysts be removed when IN the ovary?

Im 27, and 4 yrs ago was thought to have pcos. I have had irregular periods, u/s showed multiple follicular cysts both ovaries.
My dr did not really bother doing blood tests, and i did not know how serious this could be(pcos). I went today for another u/s, b/c of BAD pain in left ovary. Well I saw why! I still have all those cysts, plus a HUGE looking one on left ovary. it hurts tosit even. The lady was nice enough to giver me a view of the screen. She also was very helpful, and said- it's definatly pcos. I have a gyn appt with another dr, on the 15th, but should probably go to fam dr by wed they should have results to him.
Can anyone give me advice as to what i should ask, ect? can you take medicine to make these disolve?
pain meds? ANY advice would REALLY help. Thanks
Heather- in LOTS of pain!!

Hi There from my understanding you have it SORRY!!!

The glucophage/ metformin is a type 2 diabetic drug used to control insulin resistance which is a symptom of PCOS :( I am on it. they did a 3 hour glucose intolerence test on me. I am not diabetic but creat TOO much insulin which causes weight gain.

I as well ahve had VERY large cyst and ovaries. You can control that with birthconrtol and other meds. My last doc put me on depo provera- which come to find out is BAD for PCOS :( I don't want to be on bcp- but don't want any more kids either)

They also put me on a diaretic to lower my testosterone level was 96 needs to be below 35. I am loosing my hair rapidly!!!

So I recommend getting a GTT-glucose intolerence and a testosterone test done.

One thing I did was googled suppert group in my area and found women and about there docs and that is how I found my doc. I had 3 other docs who didn't want to treat me or didn't beleive me.  In my opinion finding a good doc is VERY important- one who cares!!!

Good luck

Hi Heather! I also have PCOS and have been trying to have a baby for about 14 mos. I started seeing a fertility doctor and he did a laproscopic surgery where he found many follicles on my ovaries and also removed 2 cysts. I felt much better. The surgery also allowed him to check for any other problems, such as blocked tubes, endometriosis.... Have you had ANY blood work done yet or been put on any meds? I am on glucophage for the PCOS. I am also starting endometrium to help regulate my periods. I have not had a normal period since March 07. I have taken provera before, but never endometrium. I don't really know about meds to take to get rid of cysts or anything. I used to take Ibuprofen for the pain. You really should see Reproductive Endocrinologist. They are very knowledgeable in PCOS and how to treat it. Blood work is helpful to check your glucose and such. My RE started me on a low card, no sweets diet to help with the PCOS. I hope this helps a little. Let me know if you have any more questions and I will try to help.
