Well I had appt with the gyn and the endo. Both seem to think that my prim. Doc dx was wrong even tho they have not done any test. The endo is having blood work done next week for something totally diff. They both seem to think that if I "bleed" every month then it CAN'T be pcos. So I am back to being lost. I go for the endo test on the 15th. I will keep u posted
Thanks for all the help guys !!! I think my whole thing with the reg. period is if I see it then nothings wrong but I have thought abt the ovualation. I almost bought one of those first response test that check fertilty but didn't wanna worry myself, just let the docs do their thing.
Hi there. Your symptoms sure do sound like PCOS.
The first specialist I seen 12 years ago when I got diagnosed was an endocrinologist.
They normally do bloodwork and (24 hour) urinalysis to check hormone levels, and to check to see if thyroid, and pituitary, etc is working properly. This was after my regular physician sent me for an U/S and no cysts showed up...
The endocrinologist's explanation was that there probably were cysts, but they probably broke prior to U/S.
Upon seeing a gynecologist, they'll probably reccomend the bcp.
You spoke about hormones being normal range - well, from what I'm told that'll vary from person to person...
Diane 35 is suppose to have a reputation for helping with the hirsuitism.
You may in fact have PCOS, even if you have regular periods.
I did too, initially.
Good luck with the doctor's appointment.
I also want to point out, that just because you get your period regular...it might mean you are not ovulating. You might want to check into that as well. Like the above poster said, PCOS has so many different symptoms, its always hard to pinpoint if you have it. Good luck, and check into the part about if your ovulating or not. Thats a big problem for those who do have PCOS.
good luck at your appointment. Talk to your doctor about metformin it controls insulin and testosterone so over time you should have less symptoms including hair growth. good luck keep my updated!
Thanks 4 responding. No us yet, I have an appt with the endocrinologist on the 28th of jan. 2yrs ago a derm gave me spironolactone but I only took it 4 2wks because I had questions about something and the docs never returned my calls. I think I would like to try it again.
Hi, and yes you can. Pcos has so many different symptoms it's rare to find someone with your exact symptoms. no period is just one symptom. For example, I am normal weight with high blood pressure, normal labs, no periods, no ovulation but before surgery i had almost 100 cysts. So I don't fit the "normal" pcos either. My friend is overweight with only a few cysts, she has elevated labs and she has her period every cycle. Have you had a us to see if you have cysts? It's so frustrating that pcos is not a black and white disorder there are so many variations. Has your doctor put you on any meds?
