Do you have to have irregular periods to have PCOS?

If someone always has regular periods that come on time and has been this way for 20 years, is it still possible they have PCOS?
Also, I know that a new onset of "acne" is a symptom too. Are we talking about just a few pimples or are we talkin about acne like teen acne? Thanks

I was diagnosed with pcos back in Dec 09!

I have major Acne :( I have tried several things with nothing really working except when I was on metformin that helped clear my face up really well and stopped drinking soft drinks!

I do get hair growth on my toes - under my armpits now never had that before but its not crazy hair! I know this is normal for hair to grow under your arm pits its not something new for me!

also im over weight and its hard to get it off unless I am on the metformin that seems to help me lose weight and I did lose weight on it - I lost 35lbs but then I got pregnant with my daughter back in 2010 and have since gained that back so im back on the metformin again , I hope to drop the weight again soon!

Hi,

I am 20 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago. As far as i know, one of the main symptoms of polycystic ovaries is having irregular or absent periods. This is because your body will either ovulate irregularly or not at all, (making pregnancy difficult too). Acne is a symptom also along with the possibility of excess hair growth i.e. on the face, chest stomach back or even just that hair grows back very quickly. However the best advice that i can give to you is if you are unsure to go to your doctor and ask the question. From what you have said i think it sounds unlikely that it is PCOS but i hope this helps.
