I need help

Hi everyone I am new and looking for answers and support. I just got diagnosed with PCOS and I have been struggling with irregular periods and being overweight all my life. I have done my research and found that its harder for people like me to lose weight. I am very active but i weight quite a bit. There was a period (about 5-8 yrs ago) when i wasnt active because I worked on my feet all the time. I put on 50 extra pounds. I have been trying to lose it for the last 3 years. I joined weight watchers and then I couldnt afford to rejoin, so I gained back an extra 20 on top of it. So i was fed up and started doing Zumba and kickboxing and belly dancing. I lost 12 pounds.  It goes up and down.  Now during a phyisical they found my blood platelet count low. My question is does anyone else have low platelets? I am thinking it could be due to my blood collecting in my uterus because I havent started my period. Is this possible does anyone know. Also what has been successful diet wise for everyone. I heard low carb. Thanks in advance.

Well I just had the physical and they said the glucose was fine but I don't know if they check the insulin.  My previous doc said my glucose was slightly up though but that was about a year ago.

Did u check out ur fasting insulin and glucose level??? Most of the times they are up and cause obesity in pcos patients. Keep these levels in range. Wishing the best for you.

I have had a full blood check up and seen a hematologist. I have even given a bone marrow sample. Its fine. The doc even checked if i had any vitamin deficiencies and I dont. She doesnt know what it is. I guess i have never taken it slow as far as the diet thing goes. Thanks for your advice as well. Oh and they checked my cholesterol and my triglycerides r up.

Hi if you are on a diet you need to take it slow so that your body can get used to whatever you are doing. fast is not always the ans. your body needs time to adjust and when that happens it will know that this is whats happening and it will "work with whats being given to it" but my advice it do it slowly and you will see results. and as for AF . if you are not having your period, that doesn't mean that the blood is collecting in your uterus , if oyu are not ovulating then you cannot have a period and therefore you cannot have AF so there fore no blood, I think it may have something to do with a diet or someting you are doing to your body thats making your blood count low.. Did they say why or even give you a clue.. did they check your HDL, LDL ( cholesterol)  or did a full blood work up on you??? dig deeper and fing out what exactly is going on but try the slow weight loss thing and see if it works for you, don't cut everything out its all about moderation and portion size.. good luck to you !!!

Thanks for the advice. I am currently doing kickboxing, zumba and belly dancing. In the belly dancing and kickboxing we do crunches and push ups and jumping jacks and jogging as well. Its our warm up. But situps and pushups a day will probably help. I already eat mostly whole grain breads and pastas....I love brown rice but my husband hates it. So i have to try to figure out a way to get him on board. I already eat lean meats...i prefer them. I guess Im on the right track....I just got to stay away from pizza and the Halloween candy that was leftover..lol. thanks.

Idk about low platelets. But as for diet & exercise start small & short. Things, goals you know u can do. Like cut out soda for a week. Then 2. Then 2 more. Now you've gone a whole month no soda. If u can do one you can do another. Do 5 push-ups/15 sit-ups everyday. If girl push ups all u can do then do it. After a week do 1 boy pushup then finish the rest doing girl ones.  Low Carbs is ok but u need Carbs to burn energy. So fresh veggies & fruits, high fiber pasta, mix in brown rice with the white, 100% wheat bread. Lean cuts of meat are good.
