I am a 25 year old female living in UK. I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year now, my husband has had a sperm analysis and all normal. I had a large cyst a good few months ago now that seems to have passed, i had an ultrasound and mri, which showed "many follicular cysts" so they were unsure to know whether i had pcos or not, i also have slightly raised prolactin levels, i have tested my levels 6 times and all have been raised, i have regular periods between 28-35 days long each month without fail. I have been attending a gynaecologist here in UK and i am not happy at all! she said my prolactin level was not significantly high ENOUGH to put on medication to lower it and could just be linked with pcos, i was put on 50mg clomid two months ago and result was 5.0 i was then told to take 100mg clomid , my results on day 21 were 22.1 (has to be over 30 in uk for ovulation to have occured) i asked them last friday what to do next, the receptionist said she could not find a doctor to speak to till next week, by then which it would of been too late as i needed to start round 3 clomid on sunday, which i then took into my own hands as noone got back to me or told me what to do, i have took 150mg clomid for the last two days and i now just receive a phonecall from the receptionist advising me to stay on 100mg clomid this cycle, i did not tell her that i increase the dose myself as she would of just shouted at me like last week, what do you suggest i do? Should i stick to 150mg or now take 100mg for the rest of the 3 days? i cant help but think its the slightly raised prolactin thats stopping me conceiving, as i had my period right on time this month day 29, why would i get a period if i did not ovulate? im very stressed by all of this and my regular GP knows nothing about this drug so she cannot advise me either.
