Is this a cyst?

I had an ultra sound done a month ago b/c I was having the worst pelvic pain. I was also feeling fatigue and naseous before and during my period. I have a docs appt next week to find out what my results meant but I am to anxious to wait. Can someone please tell me what this means: slight heterogeneity in the echotexture of the myometrium.

Thanks I did make an appt with another doc cause I tried what the first doc said and nothing has changed. Now I have a lump in the crease of my thigh and vagina. Its under the skin and soar to touch and when I sit down. I had this back in may before all these other symptoms started but my family doc said since it went away it must have been a swollen lymph node. I'm not worried but I do agree a second opinion would be best.

Well I went to the doctor and the first thing she said was my uterus is irregular and she said something I was familiar with. Adenomyosis....just what you told me it would be, however after I started telling her I was still nauseous and my new symptoms. She did a pregnancy test and brushed what she said off like it never came up and told me I have IBS and Gerds. Ok so fine maybe so. I asked her do I need to worry about the results of the ultrasound and she said oh nooo. Ok doc well you wasted my time. Why couldn't she just cure all these things and then send me on my way. I'm still nauseous, dry vomitting, having headaches, cramps and feeling fatigued. I don't know if its nothing or if I need to see another doctor but I do know I want it to go away. What should I do?

hi there

Adenomyosis is uterine thickening that occurs when endometrial tissue, which normally lines the uterus, moves into the outer muscular walls of the uterus.

The disease usually occurs in women older than 30 who have had children. It is more likely in women with previous cesarean section or other uterine surgery.

Have you had any surgery before???

During a pelvic exam, the doctor may find an soft and slightly enlarged uterus

The average adult uterus is about 3 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 1 inch thick. So that would be about 7cm x5cm x 2.5cm

not sure which is the width and which is the thickness on yours but the length of yours in about 4 cm longer than average.

sometimes free fluid can be from a ruptured cyst but I don't know if this is what happened in your case.

If it is Adenomyosis then Birth control pills and a progesterone-containing intrauterine device (IUD) can help decrease heavy bleeding. You will have pain killers for the pain .

A hysterectomy may be necessary in women with severe symptoms, my friend had this when the pills they gave her didn't control the  bleeding.
It did say slight in your report so it may not come to that and they might not even say it is Adenomyosis for sure.  You usually have to have a Hysteroscopy to confirm it.(A hysteroscopy is the inspection of the uterine cavity by endoscopy with access through the cervix)

Hope it won't be as bad as all that ! They may say you are fine!!!

Good luck !! Let us know the results anyway xx

Also my ultrasound said that there was a trace amount of free fluid in the cul-de-sac.  My uterus measured 10.7x2.3x4.8 cm.  I would also like to know if that is a normal size?

My periods have been so weird this year but by the time it really begins there is heavy bleeding.  I was using tampons but after the pain started getting worse I switched back to pads. In one working day of 7.5 hours I soak 5 or 6 pads. That's not how my periods normally were. I have never heard of Adenomyosis. Is that something that I should be really concerned about?

Hi there

I am not 100% on this but you may have " Adenomyosis"
It usually refers to ectopic endometrial tissue (the inner lining of the uterus) within the myometrium (the thick, muscular layer of the uterus)

Have you had heavy bleeding accompanying the pain??
