Newbie on the site heres my story..............

Hi Im new to this site.  Im 29 and married 5 years my husband and I have been TTC the entire time.  Im currently on my 4th month of clomid.  I find the whole process quite painful to be honest.  Every time it doesnt work it tears a hole in my heart to see his face disappointed.  I come from a family who adores children and my 2 sisters have no fertility probs and have children.  Believe me they can be so insensitive. Not actually meaning to.  Sometimes I get so envious and I know I shouldnt be.  All my friends have children and I feel I have nowhere to turn. If any of you wish to share your stories with me please do so.  I know the world is vast but it can be lonely.  I just want to meet like minded people to share this experience with. Good luck to you all out there, Love Nikki

Hi Nikki,  I'm 26 My husband and I were ttc for 3 and half years.  I did 5 rounds of clomid before I was diagnosed with PCOS, which by the way clomid can cause cysts!  By the end of the 5th cycle I had almost 100 cysts.  I had ovarian drilling in december of 2009, and then began the fun process of injectables and IUI.  Our 5th round of follistim and IUI took place on july 9th 2010 and 13 days later I got my first positive!!  I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant.  Believe me I understand how devastating ttc can be, i'm sorry you don't have a good support system.  Luckily my sister was always understanding.  My husband was always great too but it's nice to talk to someone who has been through the same things.  If you need anyone to talk to send me a message.  Are you on metformin?

Hi My name is Tamara, I'm 22 and I've just been diagnosed with PCOS. I've been put on metfomin and seasonal birth control. I've just gotten married and we're not ready to start a family yet but I do know i want to have children early. I was told that I have a better chance of concieving if I do it before I'm 30. Is this true? My doctor didnt really tell me anything about PCOS just gave me the meds and told me to take them and i should start loosing weight in a few months. My mom, aunty and Grandma all had PCOS and have never had trouble conceiving. Although my mom lost their first baby, I think it's due to a complication to PCOS but the doctors wouldn't say for sure. She had to have a stich put in her cervix to make sure we didn't come early. My aunty also had complications during pregnancy and her body treated the baby like it was a virus and tried to kill it, and she also almost died her self. I'm really scared to try to get pregnant because of the complications that have been in my family. My husband is very supportive but he doesn't understand how scarry it can be. I also didn't know that it was a 50% chance of MC in the first trimester, I knew it was higher than normal but I didn't know it was that high. Is there anything else that I should know about being this young and hopefully starting a family in the next couple years?

If you have PCOS you should be on metformin to regulate your hormones, Many women can ovulate with metformin alone.  you would also continue taking it up to the end of the first trimester to help prevent miscarriage, if you don't know us with PCOS have a 50% miscarriage rate in the first 12 weeks.  Definitely ask your doctor about metformin and you should be seeing a RE (reproductive endocrinologist) not an OBGYN.  An RE specializes in endocrine disorders they can really help treat you.  I was prescribed clomid by my OBGYN, when I switched to an RE He wasn't very happy that I had 5 rounds of clomid without any ultrasounds to monitor, or even an official diagnosis.  Has your doctor checked you blood to see if you ovulated?  Or do an ultrasound to see if anything is maturing?

Thanks for your story.  My husband is a good support as is my Mum but they dont really get what goes on in my head at times if you know what I mean.  Sorry to hear you had quite a hard time but Im so delighted you got there in the end so BIG Congratulations to you! Thankd for your invite to message you I will take you up on it. Im not on metformin. Should I be? Im due back to my doc in two weeks to discuss the next steps so I want to get a few ideas of what else I can do. I am quite uneducated on these matters and know nothing really on whats available and never even heard of IUI. I never knew Clomid can cause cysts it cant really be helping can it? Im in a lot of pain most of the time since I started taking it. Thanks for any advise / info you can give me. NIkki, X
