PCOS and implanon
Hi, I'm 19 and have had the implanon in for 3 years and a couple of months ago I got told I had PCOS..
I was just wondering if the Implanon has effected my PCOS or was the reason I have it..
Also I think it has something to do with it I haven't had my period in nearly two months when usually get it every 2
Weeks.. the pain is so bad I have been in tears and feels like my stomach is getting ripped apart...
If anyone has any information it would be very helpful.

I'm 20 years old and was also diagnosed with PCOS. I also had a birth control implant, nexplanon(variation of implanon). This particular type of birth control causes your body to stop ovulating or sending eggs from your ovaries. My doctors informed me that the problem was either genetic, or caused by the birth control itself. PCOS is a condition where your hormones and their messages aren't getting through. For instance, your brain tells your ovaries to get ready to ovulate(send an egg, start your period) when they say they're ready to do so, the brain sends another message telling them to send the egg. This isn't working. In other words, with PCOS, I personally never ovulate. I haven't had a period in about 10 months. (Since before I was diagnosed)
I asked my family to get examined, so that my doctors and I could determine the next step. Turns out, my family doesn't have any history of PCOS. I had the birth control removed; however, PCOS isn't curable. Those of us who have it, will always have it. I urge all of you to become familiar with the condition. There are many other health problems assosciated with it, such as Thyroid conditions, diabetes, infertility, etc... I hope my post is helpful.

Thanx.. I have an app to see my gyno at the end of this month to get the implanon removed.. do you know if there is anything I can do for the pain ??

PCOS is a symptom complex which results from hormonal imbalance. The pain can be because of the impending periods or because of pelvic infection, endometriosis or other causes. An examination by a gynaecologist and an ultrasound scan will help determine the cause of pain. Consult your Doctor.
