Provera, When I'll see my period--Help...

by zonian18baby, Jun 19, 2009 09:40AM
Hello everyone, I have polycystic ovarian...two months ago i posted here about me being spotting after intercourse and not able to see my period for closed to two years, I followed some of the ladies' advices from here,  and finally changed my doctor and saw the new one this week.

She prescribed me Provera 10mg. she said since it's been that long she wants to do this for about three months, she asked me to take it for 10 days and i have to come back for ultrasound in three weeks. Does anybody know when I'll get to see me period if I'm taking provera, I'm on my third day. So far nothing. She said I'll have real heavy since it's been that long. I decided to wait on getting pregnant, I'll take care of my body first. I got a little worried when she told me that she has to check my uterus to make sure there is no sign of pre cancer, got to make sure the lining is ok. Don't really understand much that part of science, but i'm trying my best to get more educated on this PCO thing. I will appreciate your response to my posting. Thanks.

I always thought with Provera on inducing the period, you normally see your period AFTER your done taking the medication? I was never on Provera for that reason. I was on it to try and stop my period, because I bled all the time. My periods never skipped, they were just really heavy and long. You might want to double check with the doctor, but I'm pretty sure you should see your period after your done with the medication.

Mine starts about 3-4 days after my last pill on provera.

I still take provera every month...but at a lower dose.  When I was first put on it though i was given the same dose that you are taking...when I took it for 10 days AF would start within a few days after the last pill.  Doctors will usually tell you within a week after your last pill.  Unfortunately when you go that long without a period it can be very heavy and for me when I started taking it after a year with no AF I had very bad cramps as well.  Don't worry though it will get better...once you get AF back on track it won't be that bad.
