Waiting to get pregnant

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this forum but I think it's really helpful. I had a question about waiting to start trying to get pregnant. I'm almost 31 years old and have been diagnosed with PCOS for a few years now. My doctor said I can try clomid first to see it works for me ones I decide to start trying to get pregnant. I don't know if it's ok to wait 1 or 2 more years to start trying or if I should start trying now because of my age and the PCOS? Please let me know what you guys think depending on your experience with PCOS, thank you.

Hello:

I DONT get periods frequently, haven't for many years.  I am guessing due to age is why the DR has such an aggressive treatment plan.

Hi:  I am 38 overweight and PCOS as well.  I am currently using a fertility clinic as well.  My first round was Clomid, Follistem, Ovidrel and Prometrium.  My first IUI session was june 30th, Not to be too graphic however I am in the same situation at Frogg360.  I do get periods very frequently and after the first round of IUI I am still not getting a period.  The PMS these pas few days have pretty rough (which I never experience) now we just sit and wait so that I can do the day 2 BW and ultrasound all over again.  I am wishing you much luck and if you have any suggestions or tips I very much welcome them.

Hi,

I am glad the comment was helpful. One question, have you had an ultrasound to see if you have any abnormal cysts? I had a cyst that was 6.5 inches by 12 inches which (at the time i didn't know) stopped my periods all together or i would have like one and then none for several months. If you haven't i urge you to see your doctor and ask for an ultrasound. If there was a cyst it would explain the lack of periods!

I am 38 with PCOS. Althought I am not in the best of shape (overweight) I am having trouble getting pregnant as well.  My husband and I tried for 2 years to get pregnant with no luck.  We are now using a fertility clinic.  With Clomid, Follistem and Ovidrell and my first Iui on the 30th of June my 2ww period ends tomorrow.  I am showing signs of either AF or implatation bleeding but not sure which one.  Only time will tell,  I do wish you much luck!!!

Hi,

Yes my husband and I have tried to get pregnant on our own before but had no luck. The problem with me is that I never or rarely have a period and therefore don't ovulate. I have to take birth control in order to have a period and as soon as I stop taking it I stop having one. I've heard of women with PCOS that are able to get pregnant on their own and I also heard that ones you have a child it's easier to get pregnant with a second. Hopefully it doesn't take me a long time to get pregnant ones I start trying again. Thank you very much for your comment it was very helpful :-)

Hi,

I am 20 years old and i was diagnosed with PCOS about two years ago now. my mum also has this. My advice may not help you but have you tried to get pregnant without any forms of medication first? The reason i ask this is because my mother was told she may not be able to get pregnant. However, my mother has two children. When my mother was pregnant with me she had two cysts removed from her ovaries, in fact they had to remove them. Although this was not the case. it turned out that by error my mother was left with half an ovary, and then 17months later managed to become pregnant with my younger sister. I know it must worry most women as having children is something most of us think about but i would hate to see someone worry because of statistics or what the docs say, because my sister and i are living proof that they are not always right! I hope you manage to have the children you want.
