Wondering if I could have PCOS??

Okay this is really hard for me to talk about because these are symptoms I have always covered with clothing, make up, shaving, hair styles etc....

But I recently went in to the doctor to have my hormones checked. I had a hysterectomy last year due to cancer, I had both cervix and uterus removed but kept my ovaries. Anyway so I went in to the doctor and had my lab work done everything was with in the normal range except my testosterone which was double almost triple the normal amount. Sex Globulin was about 2.0 points below the normal range. So I started researching online what could be causing high testosterone levels and I came across some videos on youtube of women experiencing pcos.

I was in tears while I listened to all their embarrassing symptoms....I have an hair growing everywhere and it has always been so embarrassing to me...around my mouth, extreme amounts on my arms and legs, butt, pubic hair....is like a jungle (sorry to much info) stomach around my nipples . I have skin tags under my arms and on my neck and face, I also have the dark patches on my chin, neck and underarms, I am about 90lbs over weight and have such a hard time losing weight. I have been doing weight watchers for 2 months faith fully and have only lost about 8lbs. I also sweat a lot to the point where I leave marks on my shirt.

Now here comes the part I am not sure about I fit with all the symptoms except the fertility and cycle issues. I have had four children all unplanned. I started my period at about age 9 and I never kept track of it so I have no idea how regular it was. It seemed to come, around the first week of every month sometimes the end of the 2nd week. I was pregnant by age 16 and gained about 40lbs kept it all on and I noticed more of the symptoms above after that...but I was always to embrassed to mention it to anyone.  After I gave birth to my first son I remembering not feeling very feminine anymore feeling ugly and that feeling has just gotten worse.  I had a hysterectomy so I have no way of monitoring it now cycle now to see if it was regular but because I was able to concivie so many times I am assuming it was on the right track.

Could I have PCOS and still have had a normal cycle??

first off - I'm sorry you have such difficulties with your symptoms, but yes, you can very likely have PCOS with a "normal" cycle.  I do!  I have never in my life missed a period, except when I was pregnant.  I ovulate normally, but do get lots of cysts and my insulin levels are very high, I have excess weight around my middle - lots of struggles with losing weight, more acne than a 36 year old should have (as far as I am concerned!), etc.  I would suggest speaking with your doctor about your suspicians and seeing if there is something he can do to help you.  Once you get the hormones in check a lot of the other issues start to fade...

Good luck to you!
