no period for years PCOS?

I am 22 years old and I haven't had a period for 2 and a half years. I had my first period when I was 13. I didn't have another one after that until I believe I was 16. I visited my doctor when I was 14 and she said to monitor it and that it wasn't a huge deal at the time that most young girls will go years without a period.

So, when I got to be 16 she put me on birth control and first I had to take a 10-day pill forcing me to have a period then I could start the birth control once I got my period. So, I had my period regularly for about a year and a half and then I stopped taking it because I didnt want to have my period for my junior prom and I never took the pill again.

At 20 I had a period on my own out of nowhere. I had testing when I was 16 and 22 and first time my testosterone was high but the second time it was normal. I have had ultrasounds and everything has been called "normal."

I questioned that I could have PCOS but my doctor says by the signs she doesn't believe I have it. I am overwieght, but my stomach is where almost all of my weight is. I have very small dark patches on my inner thighs and I have had a few skin tags. HELP ME

I have had the same problems since I was 14, and I have always been overweight, the doc didnt tell me that POCS was the problem until I was trying to get pregnat, then they began to work with me, I dont have a period unless they force me to so I know how you feel, but my advice is to look up a fertility doc and ask them for a doc that would help you. They know all the good ones, lol Keep your head up though.

Hi I am 17 and I have PCOS. I had my first period when 9 and from there I never had it every month. I had my last one when I was 12. I always refused to go to the doctors until last year. They send me to a specalist on hormons and they put me on medication. I havent had a period yet but I am supose to have one soon. I am also overweight and I have this dark patch behind my neck. its common to have PCOS anyone could have it and it wont go away. I  suggest that you eat a health diet and exercise because the overweight also has to do with it. The medication I am on has help me lose weight but I have to drink it for the rest of my life.

sounds to me like it could likely be PCOS but a doctor needs to confirm.  Is the doctor you have gone to a GYN or just a regular primary care?  I would suggest going to a GYN or even a specialist.  At this point it would be wise to find out the underlying issues, get yourself regulated if possible and see what they can do to help some of your other symptoms.

good luck!
