pcos now taking 1st cycle of clomid need buddies to share my experience with!!!

hi all

i have pcos and am starting my 1st round of un monitered clomid would really like buddies who are going down  the clomid route to share the experience with and support   also if youve already had a try with clomid would love to hear about your experience too

i was diagnosed with pcos about 5 years after i had my 1st son hes  gonna be 11 this december.
i  was prescribed metformin after years of trying to conceive for a 2nd baby  but stopped taking it against my drs wishes as it made me feel terrible headaches sickness the works, and to be honest i just gave up trying got it into my head that i wasnt going to have any more children and to be grateful that i had 1!!  and to my surprise i fell pregnant for the 2nd time was almost 3 months gone before i even thought of doing a test as my periods had been so irregular and even then i only did one as a friend told me i looked different other than the 2 huge things that had suddenly grown on my chest lol she said i was glowing!!   so i was blessed a 2nd time and gave birth to another healthy baby boy after a trouble free pregnancy!!

i fell pregnant for a 3rd and 4th time but miscarried at 8 weeks and 5weeks

now that call for another baby has come back and this is where my clomid journey starts!!  ( hopefully helping me get stronger eggs and carry to full term)  

hopefully some of u will be starting this journey too and would like to share it with me!!

I too, is from United Kingdom, and I have bee given Clomid, I took my first pill today (cd 2-6) I have then got to go back to the fertility clinic to have a scan to see if i have ovulated this is between days 10-12 after the first day of your period..

Here in England my  (GP) doctor cannot prescribe me clomid, I was referred for fertility testing at the hospital and I found out I have low progesterone which is an indication that you are not ovulating every month, hence why they can prescribe clomid, I have a 6yr old son and have since had 3 miscarriages, 2 being in the last year, so I must ovulate just not every month... from what I've been reading it seems here in England you are unmonitored in the fact you are not scanned to see whether you have mature follicles or how many, but you can be asked to do a blood sample on day 21 of your cycle (or 7 days before af is due) to see what progesterone level is which will tell you whether you ovulated or not !!
You can of course buy clomid online and I know of one person who just bought it online and got preg 1st go with twins (they are now about 10months old)  I have thought about just doing that but I would rather go through my fertility consultant,buying medication online is a risk I am not willing to take, our NHS is just different to how your health care system works, being prescribed it via a doctor and being told the side effects is as much as we get here or we can pay to go private and obviously if you have any concerns then just let the doctor know but we are not monitored in the same way as I have heard ladies in the states are.

i just want to wish you good luck with clomid, i have been on it and it worked on my 2nd cycle however i miscarried at 6 - 7 weeks.
I just wanted to let you know that my doctor did the same gave me the drug and then had to have a blood test at 21 days to see if i  ovulated and has left me to it.

i will be taking my clomid from oct. 4-8. I was told that my fertile days will be on oct 13-15 and so I need to go back to my ob and have an ultrasound done to check if my eggs have fertilized on oct. 14. That same day, I will be given an injection on the 14th to help release the eggs.
I usually read a lot about just the clomid treatment but never heard about the injection part. For those who have already undergone clomid treatment, is this really the procedure?

I was prescribed clomid a few months ago and it seemed to work for me, I too did not have to have any testing done until the next month to see if it worked. I did ovulate and got pregnant the first time but unfortunetly I miscarried. I am still very positive b/c all of my tests came back negative after the M/C. I am going to try again in October with clomid. Best of luck and think positive, there are many women on here who have gotten prego on clomid.

But if you are, then fine...it's better for you then. It's strange you say that about metformin...I've never heard of it making people too tired. What dose were you on? I started mine at 500mg 1x a day for 4 months, then started 2x a day at my check up appointment. Metformin needs to be started out slowly so there aren't bad side affects. And most people complain of stomach issues and bathroom problems.

forgot to say about the metformin  cannot take it as makes me too ill tried taking it in various combinations but nothing helped and as he was already aware that it made me so ill he didnt ask me to try it again first or in combination with the clomid

my dr prescribed me clomid as i dont ovulate every month but didnt say anthing about having any scans or anything done he did say i will have to have a blood test done on day 21 tho

What do you mean un monitered clomid? You have never taken this drug before, so therefore you do not know how your body will react. I suggest for you to follow up with doctors on this just to make sure you don't have a reaction to clomid. I think if your able to conceive on your own, and the proof is with your two live children, then I don't see a reason for clomid, unless it was prescribed by a doctor....but in this case it sounds like you just bought some pills and are trying them out. I understand that you had two m/c's, and yes pcos could have had something to do with that...BUT being on metformin while pregnant can reduce the chances of a m/c. And also, clomid doesn't always work for those who have PCOS...because it can stimulate into too many eggs growing and futher complications.
