Dr not happy with weight gain..

Yesterday I went for my routine check up.. I knew I had gained weight I just didn't think it was to the extent that I did.. I gained 9lbs in one month.. my dr sat me down and had a stern talking to me saying I have not done damage its just not something I should do every month which is I know.. I was so embarrassed I just listened and nodded my head and said "okay".. the babys heartbeat was great and I'm measuring right on schedule.. I go back next week for my glucose test and then at my routine appointment they'll do more blood work for the RH Negative and I'll come back two days later for the shot.. I didn't think I have gained too much weight so far but he's really got me concerned.. after loosing a couple pounds I've gained a total of 15lbs and I'm 26 weeks almost so I have a ways to go.. should I be concerned?

I don't know much about the weight gain and I'm a little scared now that maybe I'm putting on weight to fast. With my first I didn't gain weight unitl I was about 23 weeks, with my second the same and I was a smaller size girl but with my last pregnancy i gained weight after I had her. I haven't been able to lose the weight so i was overweight before I got preggo this time. Should i be concerned ladies? I've probably put on about 5lbs and I'm only 8 weeks and 4 days. the weight is all in my staomach area, it's like a little baby hump.

at the point you are at now, you will be gaining your most pregancy weight according to my book.  i'm surprised he has given you a hard time.  the doctor had the same conversation with my friend, but she truly was gaining a lot of weight in her 4th month of pregnancy and was eatting A LOT of ice cream!!  i am at 22 weeks and have gained about 12 lbs.  it's been a pretty steady 2-3lbs a month, but my doctor is very happy with it.  i did start out very small and they seem to want you to gain a little extra weight if you started out underweight. i wouldn't worry about it as long as the food you are eatting is healthy and not a load of sugar.

15lbs in 26 weeks doesn't sound bad to me. I gained 40 lbs with my first.  This time I haven't gained that much weight as of yet.  But I wouldn't sweat it.  Now if you are gaining 9lbs a month, that might be another story.  Do you have a lot of swelling?  Some of it might just be fluid.  Everyone is different.  I think that about 30lbs total weight gain in normal.

Im  23 weeks 3 days and have gained 20lbs so far.

I started off pretty small and was worried that i was gaining too much but my m/w says after 13 weeks people should gain at all different rates and unless your health is suffering due to weight gain you shouldnt worry :)

I agree. I only gained 5lbs in 2 months or so..> I just checked yesterday and in the last two weeks it looks like I've either stayed the same or gained 1lb.

I'll be 21weeks on Saturday. so don't worry too much. I keep expecting to go in and be told "wow~ 10lbs in 1 mo!"..

I just had my doctors appt today...and i gained another 5 pounds this month. I have gained about 25 pounds so far... I was pretty small to begin with, so they said its ok. She told me it was normal..and no to worry. she said its gone to the baby and mostly to my belly.

I think some doctors get way out of hand with the whole weight issue.  I gained 60 lbs in total during my pregnancy and I didn't get a lecture at all from my doctor.  As long as my blood pressure was fine and my test came back ok then they didn't worry.  I am 5'8" so they knew I was going to gain more then just the "normal" 30 lb. weight gain.  My doctor just told me that every one is different and weight gain is not going to be the same with everyone.  Your weight gain is fine.

My Mom keeps reminding me you didn't gain any weight in the first 16 weeks so I wouldn't worry.. I was just taken back by how stern he was.. he was telling me all these different things to do to control my hunger I was thinking omg when is he going to stop..I also asked him about being so exhausted and he looked at my bloodwork from my previous dr and told me that I started out a little anemic so that may be a reason and they'll recheck those levels when they do the glucose screening..

I have gained a total of 32lbs, and I am 34w!  Last month I gained 8lbs, and the doctor asked me if I had increased my diet or could explain the extra weight gain!!  I said, Yes, it's those D***chocolate creme pies!!!  I have refrained from buying any since though!!  This month I only gained 1lb, so I think I did good with averaging it out!!  Don't worry!!  15lbs at 26w is just fine!!
