Is Bleeding A Bad sign

I'm only 3 Weeks pregnant i experience some spotting here and there it isnt enought to soak a pantyliner, and i only see the blood after wiping when i've gone to the bathroom. I've had the transvaginal ultrasound done and im not ectopically pregnant. I'm so freaked whenever i see it.

ur only 3 weeks and they did an ultrasound to verify it? wow that is VERY early!!! I'm surprised you know your pregnant AT ALL. how do u know how far you are? hpt? bloodwork? i ask b/c maybe ur hormone levels arn't were they are supposed to be and it may be an early m/c...or it could just be fine and your body is 'flushing' itself out. so long as you dont pass clots, or have any pain things should be fine. just keep in touch with ur ob/gyn! best of luck :)

Hi,
I have read on the net, and heard from a number of women here that some women spot a little due to "implantation bleeding" although I read that this is usually 6 to 12 days after conception. I don't know how correct that is, I just got it off the net. So maybe the blood has only just come out, although implantation was earlier, or possibly you have mis calculated your day of conception, or maybe this is something else (which doesn't necessarily have to mean it is bad, I think)
Try not to stress out, because stress is not good for your baby.

by the way - what does "ectopically pregnant" mean?
So did you test positive on an HCG test (blood test or pee test) then? cos 3 weeks is pretty early (but not too early for some)

Stay happy!

Somehow I don't believe this post. Most women can't even get a positive on a test until 3.5 weeks pregnant, and even then, your hormone levels are WAY too low to see anything on an ultrasound whether abdominal or transvaginal.

I know from personal experience.

If you didn't see a baby and were only looking at cysts on an ovary, how can you know you're pregnant?

I had a cyst on my ovary that was producing the hcg hormone and had it removed in September. I know this stuff too.

Your levels can't possibly be high enough to see anything at this point and an hpt wouldn't come back positive yet.

Thank you! you took the words right out of my mouth! Everyone is different, and I know a fried who found out 3 weeks pregnant as well. She had a faintly positive at 9DPO. So don't let people who always say you're wrong because of what they went through get you down. Sometimes people are just closedminded like that. But Congrats on the pregnancy! Wishing you a healthy 9 months!

Stop bullying her! The Dr. told her she was pregnant, she didn't mention that it was just an HPT, she went to the Dr! just because your experience is different, doesn't mean it can't happen!

hm that does seem to early to know your pregnant. I just found out I'm pregnant, and I should be somewhere around 6wks 3days. Maybe I'm wrong? I don't know. I've just never heard of someone knowing their pregnant that early... I've always heard them say, they keep getting negatives and then when their af is late, they test and get a faint posititve or something like that Who knows?

I'm not trying to bully her, but I know from experience. This is my fourth pregnancy. The absolutel earliest an hpt can come back positive is 8dpo, and even then it can still be considered an evap. Your levels are WAY to low at 3-3.5 weeks pregnant to even see anything at all on an ultrasound. They have to be at least 1000-2000 to see even a gestational sac. If she didn't see anything on an ultrasound and the technicians were only looking at her ovaries and the cysts, there's no possible way to see a baby or a sac, especially that early.

My last two pregnancies ended in miscarriage, and I know that with my levels barely over 1100, all we saw was a 3mm sac, with my second pregnancy, my levels never got any higher than 206 at 6w2d pregnant, and we couldn't see anything.

With this pregnancy, my levels were at 28, 583 and all we saw was a gest sac, a yolk sac, and finally yesterday, a fetus with a heartbeat.

So, I feel sorry for anyone who is possibly buying the story, but I'm not. There's no way to see a pregnancy in the uterus or the tubes or anywhere at 3 weeks, especially since your levels are no where close to seing 1000-2000.

And to add, even with my levels at 28,583, it took a transvaginal to see the yolk sac and fetal heartbeat.

Also, that's at 6w3d that we finally saw it.

I should be 6wks 3d today!! I haven't went to the doctor yet b/c hubby hasn't been able to get off work at all. I'm trying to get an appointment but it seems like everyone is getting pregnant! LOL.
my lmp was 3/9 so 6wks 3d should be right??? I don't know, we'll see when I go to the doctor.

oh and can you tell me about a transvaginal?

No, 6w4d. My LMP was 3/9 as well and that makes me due December 13.

A transvaginal is almost the same as the abdominal, excist that the transducer, like a long stick with a round head, has a condom (latex or non) placed over it and it's inserted into the vagina. There's slight pressure, but not much. It gives a closer and more accurate look at the insides during an ultrasound. A transvaginal ultrasound can detect a gestational sac, yolk sac and fetal heartbeat earlier than the abdominal can. It's very simple, not painful, although sometimes, there can be spotting after one.

Yes, with my ultrasound, they could see the gestational sac with the abdominal transducer, but it took the transvaginal transducer to see the yolk sac and fetal heartbeat. I'd get in to see your OB or midwife ASAP!!

Oooh, thanks. I've been wondering about that.. I was worried it was painful.
Glad you explained it to me!

Yeah, it varies. Some sites will count the day you're setting your ticker or calendar at, and others don't.

I'm kinda ehhh! See the day I tested, I had the worst breast pains I've ever had. Then yesterday, they only hurt barely at all. Today theres nothing there..
I have some cramping.. But, it's nothing bad... it's more like a pulling feeling at times.
DH just called and said the earliest he could take me to the doctor was next week.

my mothers comment to me when i needed a transvag ultrasound was...'you had sex with a penis, your about to have sex with another one' LOL

anyway, i too had a cyst on my ovaries in january (i hadnt had a period since dec. 07)and i was having positive hpts as well as rising hcg..but no baby...then in february i still hadn't a period and went back to measure the cyst and found that i was pregnant...some time in between all the appointments i got pregnant...i found out at 4wks 2 days...but sadly miscarried at 6wks 1day.

all you can do is follow up with the doctors! each person is different, that can not be stressed enough!

**also, the levels dont factor into a picture on an ultrasound as much as you may think they do...my hormome levels dropped to 4 from 89,000 and i could still see the sac and what not when i miscarried.**

First of all honey u can find out you are pregnant if u r less than a week late of ur cycle. Secondly they did both ultrasounds becuz of pain i was having and found me to have a cyst that was 9.5 cm they were not looking for a baby sweetie they were making sure i was not having an ectopic pregnancy, and since u are a doctor now,ur hcg levels double every two days doogie howser so yeah you can count your levels early. i never said i did a hpt, it was done by a real doctor. Why in the world would i make up a story like that i'm not asking for donations GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ LOL God bless you DEAR

are you counting your weeks from the first day of your last period? That may be what is causing some of the confusion.
Lots of women have spotting, if it ever accompianied my cramping then you should seek medical advise.
Good luck with everything, are you going to be considered a high risk pregnancy becasue of the cyst? I'm not sre how that affects things

I was just about to say the same thing. The confusion could merely be that she is counting weeks from ovulation and not weeks from last period. Either way, if she is 3 weeks pregnant officially as the doctor says than that would make her one week before her next period given a regular 28 day cycle. Which is quite possible that she is pregnant. However the issue that concerns me is that she said she had the Ultrasound on 4/11/08 which is almost 2 weeks ago now. So tiaj are you 3 weeks pregnant today or 3 weeks pregnant on April 11? If you are 3 weeks pregnant today than I honestly don't know how they could know you were pregnant two weeks ago. Either way I am not sure if she will be considered high risk if she is pregnant. I guess it depends on the doctor. I myself have Stage 1 Endometriosis and had a huge cyst removed last summer. I am now 28 weeks 5 days pregnant and still have cysts all over my ovaries but am not in the high risk category. Who knows!!!

When i went to the doctor i didnt even know i was pregnant after they got urine from me they told me i was pregnant. I went bcuz i was having lower abdominal pains, the same day my doc sent me to get an u/s done bcuz my pt was positive, and i was having pain, when i had my u/s that is when we saw a cyst on my left ovary, then they did a transvaginal u/s to look at my fallopian tubes, which were clear. There are people who have actually had their cyst remove while they were pregnant. So i've had light spotting but no pain i've had my hcg levels tested 3 times and they seemed to be ok
