OT--hearing loss

im not sure where to post this so i wanted to ask if you ladies knew what could cause this

my husband has suddenly lost most of his hearing in his right ear. its been ongoing for the past several days and hasn't gotten any better. he has always had bad sinus problems and had his adnoids taken out when he was a kid.

im a little worried as to what is causing his hearing loss. he's tried clearing it up with saline solution and peroxide to no avail. i know he cleans his ears all the time so i don't think that is an issue.

what could cause this? has this ever happened to your or anyone you know? did it self correct or should i take him to a doctor? if so should it be a family doctor or an ENT?

That happened to be a lot as a kid too much wax.

This happens to my husband once a year!  He over produces wax and it gets built up in his ear.  He will go in and they will flush his ear out then he can hear again.  I bet that is what is going on =)

LOL @ Heatherlyn! Same thing happened to me when i was i wanna say 7 or 8! I lost hearing in my left ear...it hurt so bad especially when i would take a bath or go swimming! I would be up for hours crying! I honestly thought i was going to be deaf in one ear. My mom took me to the drs and he stuck that thingy in my ear and said "uh-huh" he says something to the nurse, she comes back and he starts flushing out my ear! It was gross cause this big ball of wax came out LOL! I remember thinking..."OMG that is so nasty, but the coolest thing ive ever seen!" I was pretty amazed at how that wax could come out of my ear...it was literally almost the size of a golf ball, not even kidding! I was able to hear out of my ear after that, I was sent home with some ear drops and some tylenol!

My cousin's wife had something similar to this! He took her to an Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor to get her checked out! Turns out she had a big chunk of wax blocking the canal, she too cleaned her ears alot, but it was so far back in there! They used a few syringes with hot water to loosen it and flush it out! You might want to take him to an Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor to see what is going on in there!
