Stretch Marks :(

Hi,
I'm 17 weeks pregnant, starting to get some redish purple stretch marks on my hips.
I've been using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula when i get out of shower which is working just now.
But has anybody got any tips what i can use for when i'm a bit further on ??
Anything you did or used to prevent them from appearing?

I used what is supposed to be the best stretch-mark preventative there was, and it was REALLY expensive. It's called Bio Oil.
And it didn't do ANYTHING for me except relieve some of the itchyness that came along with some of the different types of stretchmarks I got.

I am COVERED with stretchmarks on my belly.
I even invented my own kind of stretchmark I think. lol
I got big fat ones going straight up.
I got little squiggly ones that are actually circling my belly button.
I got little squiggly ones going side to side.
And I got this stuff that looks like basket weave that is going up and down from below my belly button to my c-section scar.

When I was pregnant with my daughter that basket weave lookin stuff was so red and itchy and VERY painful.
It felt like a really bad sun burn.
And the only thing the bio oil did for me was help relieve some of the pain and itchyness for those after I got them.

I started using Bio Oil as soon as I found out I was pregnant to try to make my skin more elastic and I used it several times a day.
Everytime I thought about it I'd rub some on.

There is absolutely NOTHING you can do about getting stretchmarks.

Those girls you see having kids and never getting a single stretch mark isn't because they're rubbing lotion on themselves, it's because their genetics gave them more stretchable skin.

My skin has almost NO elasticity to it.
I don't have to gain a buncha weight to get them like most people do.
It *****, but there's nothing I can do about it.

Stretchmarks fade, fortunately, but they'll never go away.
And it s u c k s to know I'll have to live with these on my tummy for the rest of my life.
Even when I do get my tummy tuck when I'm all done having kids, my stretchmarks go about 5 inches above my belly button, so I'll still be left with stretchmarks on my belly even after the procedure.

I have heard the BIO OIL can work well. I am currently using Palmers in the morning and bio oli at night, not sure if I will get any marks but I assume I will since I am fair. You can get the oil at any drug strore. My friend swore by it after she had her stretch marks and said it really helped then tone down. Good luck!

I tried EVERYTHING.. I applied various lotions every day during my pregnancy and I am sorry to tell you that my stomach and thighs look like I was attacked.. I have sooo many unsightly stretch marks.. I think genetics has more to do it with it than anything. My Mom and My sisters got awful stretch marks as well.. I think it's just "luck of the genes/draw," unfortunately...

Afraid not, stretch marks are there for life.they will fade but never go.i have them from my son 16 years ago.all these lotions etc are a myth, makes a woman feel better knowing they may go.dont be embarrased by them, perfectly natural.

There's nothing you can do to prevent stretch marks.  They will fade over time, and if you get them terribly, your dermatologist can help you after birth.

Sorry, but if you're going to get stretchmarks you're going to get them. You can try a lotion that helps build elasticity in your skin but ultimately there's not anything you can do. If a woman lotions up and doesn't get them it doesn't have anything to do with the lotion but her genetics.
