contractions 10 mins apart 41 wks

am 41 weeks pregnant
my question is about my contractions.i have only been having them for the past hour ( although the last few days they have been on and off) but they are every 10 mins apart, well now every 8 mins apart and painfull enough that i cant sleep through them, or talk much (could if i needed to).
it is my second baby and i had a sweep earlier toay, but when my midwife had a look i was not dilated. i know with the second it sometimes does not happen untill labor, but could this be it? dont want to get everyone up unless i am sure. dont want to go and be sent home again!!!

please help, pregnant and in pain!!

I agree w/ worriedbabe - wake everyone up and call L&D!  With this being your 2nd and a 41 weeks w/ contractions 5 mins apart things could go VERY quickly.

just worried its all false and i will mess everyone about, but it does not feel false to me!! and i would have thought they would have stopped by now!

See if they last 5 min. apart for just a little bit longer, not much...maybe for 20-30 min. but I would call your doc now and see what they say. It seems like it could be happening fast that's why I would call now to be on the safe side! I will be honest, my contractions were 2-3 min apart and I was 6 cm and barely in any pain!! If my midwife didn't check me, I wouldn't have thought it was true labor. If it were me, I would get everyone up as soon as you call your doc. and make sure you have everything you need (that would be your partner's job!) You may have this baby by early morning!!

down to 5 mins apart, worrie it might be happeing a little quick? not any more painful, although if they were i would prob be pushing, lol.
dont want to get my partner up yet though, because i have a 2 1/2 year oldso would have to get my mum up to, n i dont want to get everyone exited if its gonna stop!

how much longer should i wait til i get everyone up??

I definitely think you are in true labor. Not being able to talk or walk through them is an awesome sign! And I agree with joy, you will probably have this baby within 2 days! If moving or lying down doesn't make them go away, it's real! How exciting! =)

i really do hope so! they are not going away, and are stil about 8 mins apart and painfull, but not getting worse yet! sometimes they are only 5-6 mins apart so hopfully they wil start getting closer together.
how will i know if they are false labor? i cant really walk through them, and moving does not make them go away, i think this is a good sign!

also empted my bowels 3 times in last hour, everythin is happening!!!

I think this might be it. Sometimes sweeping the membranes doesn't work but sometimes it is very effective. This was done to me with two pregnancies and I had each daughter within 24 hours of having it done.

Keep timing them. The fact you cannot talk through them is GOOD! I would call your OB's office and speak with the oncall doctor if they keep getting consistent. Keep timing them.

I think it is safe to say, especially since you're 41 weeks, that you'll have a baby in your arms within the next two days.

Since this is your second baby, I would definitely go when they are regularly 5 minutes apart.
Also time how long each contraction is.

Good luck!

I would keep timing them...but I don't think you need to head to the hospital until they are 5 min. apart. (because it could still be too early) or if the pain gets worse. But it sounds like you are in labor. When I had my first child, I had contractions for 2 days...they would last all day and go away at night and then finally the third day they were 2-3 min. and I knew it was time! You could call your midwife if they start to really pick up in intensity, and midwives/docs are always good at telling by your voice whether it's time or not, that way you don't risk being sent home again. Because it's your second, you could dilate very quickly. Good luck! You will probably have your baby very soon!! =)
