getting pregnant after birth control...

i have been on birth control for almost 2 years. my husband and i want to have a baby so i stopped taking them 5 days before the end of my last pack. we are very "active" hoping each time to conceive. the thing is though i am nine days late on my period (according to the date while on BC) i have taken 2 pregnancy tests and both have come back negative. could i be pregnant? i was thinking that maybe i ovulated late, after i stopped taking the pills and that it is just too soon to tell. i am having some of the common symptoms of pregnancy but just lighter versons of them...any suggestions would be helpful...i really would like to get pregnant asap

I had been on the pill for 9 years and now been off the pill for 40 days.  I have not gotten my period or ovulated yet, but I know I'm not pregnant (as we are not trying, I just went off to try to regulate my cycle to get pregnant in a few months).  I'm a little concerned that something is wrong with my body after being on the pill for so long. Could anyone let me know how long it took them to have a regular period, ovulate, etc. after going off of the pill.  I am in my mid 20's and in good shape so I should not have any problems there.

Oh ya I forgot to mention knj, most doctors say to wait 2 cycles or so after you get off birth control to start trying.

Jame, I took a pregnancy test on July 27th and it came out positive. My last period before that was May 16!!! So I would have no clue when I even ovulated. It was a wonder how we even got pregnant  with my cycles still sooo far apart.

Wow your birth control screwed you up big time! I'm sorry to hear that. It can go either way. If it screws up your cycle, it can be really hard to get pregnant. But if its normal like you were on it then its really easy. For me it was very easy...and unexpected! I ended up miscarrying though but noone linked it to birth control. Good luck though!

I don't know if it's genetic, I was just giving you the opposite end of the spectrum.

You can get pregnant really quick after birth control but it can also take a while to get pregnant after coming off birth control. I went off of it in August 2006, which screwed up my cycle big time. My husband and I tried to get pregnant before he left for Iraq in October and no luck. Then my periods were 2 or 3 months apart while he was gone! It was so weird! Then he came back in April and we got pregnant by July.

The reason you are 9 days late is most likely because you stopped the pills as you did. Some women will take longer to regulate their cycle. All I can say is just keep trying!

i havent seen a doctor yet, but i am not really sure when it is time to get worried. I have been told that you can stop BC any time. i had some very light, light pink bleeding about a week ago...some mild nausea everyonce in a while...craving cream of chicken soup (weird i used to dislike the stuff)...increse in mild headaches, about once a day...and more trips to the bthroom than normal.

Since you stopped taking the pills early that probably messed something up. Did you bleed at all!? Thats really strange. But I can tell you its really easy to get pregnant after going off of birth control correctly. That's what happened to me. I got off the birth control and two weeks later I was pregnant. It probably is just too soon to be able to tell. I would just wait a few days and test. Have you seen a dr since you got off? What symptoms are you having?
