Annoyed by pet?

i notice when I'm pregnant i cant stand my cat. She annoys me to the core. Any little thing she does, like when she plays with my daughter's toys. Or even going into the nursery. Especially though when my daughter is sleeping and she meows loud and wakes her up. Before my daughter though, she was the baby of the house. We would come in the house and say hi to her and pet her. She would even sleep on the bed with us. Now if she gets on my bed she wakes me up in the middle of the night like 2-3 times and i cant loose anymore sleep than when my daughter nurses at night. One time she even jumped on my stomach!  I was starting to loosen up about my cat once my daughter wasnt so small but now im pregnant again and i feel the same way. I feel she has potential germs that could harm my baby in me (even though i know its just in her litter box which my husband cleans). Anyone else can relate?

I love dogs but don't like being near them because the dogs I am ever around step in and/or eat their own feces and or geese feces, and have super oily and dander coats. I had a golden who did not do these things whom I loved and snuggled with. She died of cancer. Not sure why people love getting all high and mighty about animals. I do not eat most meats due to animal cruelty, same with milk. My make up is all vegan and cruelty free, I no longer will go to the circus or the rodeo, etc. I could care less what other people do though and certainly don't judge them. In addition I think the world of these woman who are venting about their animals. If you didn't love and care for them than you wouldn't be putting so much thought into it. We vent about our husbands, kids, family, pregnancy, etc. But God forbid your getting irritated about an animal and people want to start casting stones as though they are preventing animal cruelty. Move along and if you want to help animals than help animals.

Man i cant tell u just how much my feeling for my dog has changed sumtimes i just want to let him out to run the world free lol but my bf knows better, he knows its just the changes the pregnancy has brought on, even though its my dog hes way more clingy to my bf and greets him at the door but when i walk in i cant even call him to come to me and that pisses me off soooo bad "mostly hurts my feelings" its not because i think hes carrying germs or nothing like that i grew up with tons of pets around me,so for that ones that dont understand have a seat plz

I actually understand both sides. Im a big dog person and take my 2 hundred pounds beasts with me everywhere. Though, since becoming pregnant for the first time I've found I have less patience:( things that once were slightly annoying now I find anger me! The dogs haven't changed, I am just a hormonal crazy women! Resolution: Train the dogs. Bathe them often. Teach them baby toys aren't theirs. Use a scat mat to keep them out of the nursery (prior to bringing new baby home) and take a deep breath!  I truly believe animals are great for children. And I'm more scared of people/public germs than my dog's. Just an opinion...

Thank you sanja25 and april7th. Honestly these comments ARE mean. I cant comprehend how someone can say they "love" dogs but cant stand being around them. A bit contradictive much? We live in a world of bacteria and the more you try to sanitize yourself, the weaker your immune system gets. My dog is always around my 5 month old, its healthy for a child to be around an animal for developmental reasons and its great for their immune system to toughen up. I work in the healthcare area and when i read some of these comments, its laughable how some people thinks germs are so bad. Dont get an animal if you think it will annoy you because youre too overprotective of your baby. Some mothers really need to get over themselves and realize their baby will grow up one day

I have felt the same way. I'm currently in my second trimester and I have actually had to work at loving my cat and dog again. The cat is my baby and have always told my husband I'd get rid of him before I'd get rid of her, but durring my first trimester I was so tired, sick, and hormonal that I wanted to wring her neck nd get rid of her.  Luckily my husband knows me well enough to know that when the pregnancy is done I would sob if my cat wasn't around. Same with the dog, I love her to pieces but I don't want her anywhere near me. It is hard but I literally have to make myself pay attention to either of them. They are family and need to know they ate still loved even if you are not feeling that same love for them that you did before.

Our pets are fine, safe, and happy. If we didn't care about them we would have dropped them off at the pound. If you never experienced this weird transition durning your pregnancy then you wont understand and count yourself lucky. No one talks about this side of pregnancy, I never knew it could happen but since it happened to me I here about it happening all the time. Thanks for your concerns about our pets.

^^agree
If something
The kids are gonna have stronger imune sistem
And if you as a parent treat the pet right the kid is gonna learn respect
But if you kick out the animal all they are gonna learn is that they can change the mind whenever they want and to treat pets like toys

There is no evidence that cats or dogs are harmful to children. I feel sorry for the poor pets. If you work hard, seek advice and love your pets there is no reason why you can't help the transition of a pets space and home being overtaken by a tiny human!

I'm glad its a pregnancy thing.  I do feel bad for my cat but i feel my hands are so dirty after i pet her and have to wash my hands each time.  Hopefully it gets better after my baby is born and a bit older. But had i known how inconvenient having a very active tabby is with babies in the house I wouldn't have gotten it. The only benefit i see is it kills bugs every now and then.

I think it's some kind of 'protective motherly instinct' that kicks in at pregnancy. I never had any problems with any of my cats I've had throughout my entire life, until I got pregnant. It's the craziest thing!

I bet the cat would look lovely stuffed!... jk. I feel the same way as everyone else, love dogs but no longer like touching them or being near them. I've read they carry a lot of parasites, and I've seen so many people posting pics of their cats laying in their babies bassinets and it just makes me sick. Idk maybe I'm being mean it just seems gross to me, especially because cats can smother babies. OI'm sure it's an over protective thing or an instinct as everyone mutual me in my family is allergic, maybe my lo's are as well.

Yes, the same thing happened to me. My cat became an outdoor cat when I was pregnant for my son. She mainly only comes inside to eat. She was inside today because it was cold today and ended up jumping in my 22 month old son's bed when he was napping. Lol. My son was thrilled! He was so excited nap time was cut short.
My cat has a bad habit of jumping in the crib, she's super sneaky so I can't trust her in the house when I have a newborn. I'm glad she loves to be outside.

I am the same way, after my first I completely dislike any type of animals near me or my children. My son loves cats and dogs but I can't stand them in my home.  I have to wash my hands for a long time after touching one.  I was never like this before I had kids. My son and fiancĂ© want a dog so bad, but I can't do it.

I'm having the same issue with my.husband's dog and our cat. I was never a fan of his dog (a 9lb toy poodle) he doesn't shed in a typical sense but when he scratches (which is all the time) he pulls out big clumps of fur and he always smells no matter how many baths he has. Both pets drive me nuts getting on furniture they aren't supposed to be on, barking at nothing, trying to get in the nursery and just generally not listening. I like animals but since I've become pregnant I've learned that liking them and living with them are 2 different things

Lol.. I was just saying the same thing about my cat.  I think it has to do with transferring of germs.  My cat is forbidden from going into the nursery.  I don't want any baby paraphernalia going nowhere near where my cat usually likes to make himself comfortable.  I love my cat, but I honestly wouldn't miss him if we didnt have him anymore.  Sounds messed up but babies come before pets imo.

I understand what you are saying from a general stand point. Once my son was born, i got annoyed with my dogs shedding and her barking loud whenever she heard a noise. BUT,i love her too much. I had to start grooming her more often for the shedding and trained her better for the barking. I admit that i had to smack her on the butt for the barking and she got so much better. In my eyes, if i made a decision to bring an animal into my home then that animal in forever in my debt because they didnt have a choice to live with me. Good luck and i hope something works out for you.
