Slippers but make sure they are stretchy as your feet tend to swell after delivery. Housecoat/robe, personal shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc. Camera, charger, batteries, pillow, blanket, baby items, snacks, and anything you may use on a daily basis or makes you comfortable. Its OK to over pack. I also brought bottles for the baby and or milk bags depending on what your plans are for feeding. Good luck.
PADS! Both breast, and period pads! Hospital pads are good, but maybe yo big or uncomfortable. Take it from me mother of soon to be 5. Dont over pack. U can always send the other half home if u forgot stuff. Good luck.
Well, there are the usual things..
Baby attire/ avoid packing plain white if your hospital uses that.. they may take it in their wash and you're guaranteed to never see those clothes again.
Your clothes/PJ/good socks for circulation- airplane socks.. Granny underwear, why you ask?
Well, if you do end up with a c-section -you'll be happy to not wear underwear that sits on tightly just where they opened you.. trust me, it is worth buying 2pair of granny panties at target just to not have this pressure over your stitches.
You're going to ruin a pair or two anyway with all the blood anyway.. c-section or not.
Hubby/Partner clothes.
He will appreciate a clean set of clothes after a day of sweating. :)
Toileteries, anything you would pack for a weekend.
Avoid strong scents.. both for you and baby.
But the usual, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shower gel, schampoo, etc. etc.
Good stuff:
Snacks, crackers, candy, energy bars..
even if you're not allowed to have it, your hubby will enjoy it.
Camera, charger, extra memory card.
Phone charger. If you can, pack one now so you don't have to remember to pack one on the day.
If you don't have one extra to spare for your bag, put a BIG reminder note on top, or buy one extra?
Good to have:
Not sure what this is called in english, but extension chord with many electricity outlets?
You may need it to be able to charge your camera and phone at the same time, and other electronic things you want to bring.. ipad, video camera, kindle, nintendo 3ds.. whatever things you like :)
What not to bring!
Jewellery, you're more likely to loose it or have it stolen..
For you, comfy clothing, granny undies (size larger than normal) maternity bras, robe, slippers, all toilettries, lots of maternity pads and period pads, nursing pads for your boobs. Camera, phone charger, a book or something incase of quiet time (you never know)
For bub, nappies and wipes, bottles and formula (if bottle feeding) singles, socks, hats, wraps and onsies. Make sure car seat is properly fitted for home time. Anything you want to use for your baby like lotions etc.
This is the list my hospital has given me. I'm going to a private hospital in Australaia, they do provide things however encourage you to bring the for when the few te hospital supply runs out.
I have my bag and I got my little one her own bag pack and ready as well so it's easy to find hers vs mine.
Thank you all! Very helpful :)
