Head cold/sinus congestion

I'm 8 weeks and have a head cold with sinus congestion. Sore throat and such. Looking for some home remedies or opinions on what to help.

I agree that more information from all sides is the key to making informed personal decisions.  It's one of the things that makes internet forums a unique place.

And as for e. coli, it's a risk on tons of farm products from cross contamination nowadays.  It's disgusting and sad to think about.  :-(

Honey only works for allergies if the honey is made from the plants to which you are allergic. I'm allergic to pine trees, bees don't like those....
So if you are allergic to non-bee pollinated plants, honey only sooths your throat,

Botulism is the risk for honey, i have seen research on both sides. It not like i eat tons of honey anyway, so i'm just avoiding it. I do think the responsible action on this forum is to provide completely information so people can decide for themselves

Ecoli is a risk is all vegetables and hamburgers, i was using it as an example of why pasteurization is important. There was a big problem with ecoli in unpasteurized apple juice and people argues, "pasteurization kills all the good stuff" but it isn't really true.
I will never eat sprouts since they are the highest risk food for ecoli. Impossible to clean and basically covered in fecal matter.
I contracted ecoli from organic raspberries.

Wow, you can't even talk about honey on this forum anymore without people making gross generalization and judgments about your entire lifestyle.  If you want honey, do your own research, ask your doctor, and come to your own conclusion, lol.

Anyway, I completely agree with the sinus rinse!  If you do it regularly, it's also great for clearing allergens out of your sinuses!  I had a bad cold around seven weeks, and I toughed it out with lots of fluid, tea, and salt water.

And. i grow tons of.natural herbsand my.sister and i are opening a store we.believe in all natural medicines so i don't recommend buying pasteurized honey. and ecoli in honey be real with.your.self . i have.no more comments to.this.pointless conversation. bc.I'm sure you buy jarred babyfood and feed.it.to.your children so idk why you would be worried about honey.when you have.know idea what's.in the.stuff.you feed.your kids or frozen meat and all the.other stuff you get at the store. we won't even buy.noodles everythingfrom scratch here. :-)

I prefer crystalized honey, it is much easier to put in tea. I consulted a bee keeper

Ask your doctor or midwife they.will agree its fine. and infants.under.one.is common sense about.no honey.pasteurized.or not. the.onky reason they pasteurize it and bring.it.up to 118 degrees for.stores is bc.it crystalizes and people won't buy it. apparently you didn't do eneough research whatever . lol.

Eureka lemon and siracha in hot water is good too, you can sweeten it with some pasteurized honey.
I've never had any luck with curative powers of bee pollen for allergies

Sinus Rinse! Clears out the snot, I is a disturbing idea at first but it really works and totally safe during pregnancy, since it is drug free.

Having survived the deadly strain of Ecoli, I'm a firm believer in pasteurization. My cousin is a bee keeper, normally I love his honey, but he says it is not safe for pregnant women of children under one year old.
Bloody diarrhea is even less fun than it sounds

Actually, I have done research and the general recommendation is that it is pasteurized, but I completely understand what you are saying.  I generally prefer all of my food as close to its natural state as possible, and I avoid most processed foods.  I'm glad you've had nothing but good experiences, but I personally plan on abiding by pasteurization being my best friend during pregnancy.  To each his own!

My hubbys been a bee keeper for 15 yrsp. pasteurized honey you.can get at any store is garbage. they heat.it up and.it.gets rid.of all the.good things in it. do research raw honey.is FINE to have.pregnant or. any other time (except infants under 1) the.only. things you.need.to avoid.during.pregnancy that's unpasteurized.is.milk and cheeses. i don't know.why.you would recommend pasteurized.honey bc.it.would be.pointless to eat and.a.waste of.money!! We have our own farm and.grow everything and raise our own animals. we don't not feed our baby (13months) any store bought babyfood i make.it was with.fresh fruit and.veggies.

For sinus, run the hot water in the bathroom, make it really steamy and stay in the bathroom for a few minutes. The longer the better and just inhale. You can also take a wash cloth run that under water, throw it in a baggy then in the microwave for about 35 seconds (careful it's hot) let it get a little cool then place it on ur face and breathe in the steam. Put some pressure on ur face with your hands. Vicks vapor run works wonders also (run on chest, neck, and back). Natural homemade tea, ginger root, slice of lemon, slice of orange, cinnamon stick for taste. Let that brew and serve with some honey. Feel better hun! Oh and remember lots of liquids!

Just make sure the honey is pasteurized if you do.  Also, saline nasal spray if you need it.  I'd go with tea also, just make sure it's not full of caffeine or full of herbs that aren't safe during pregnancy.  Otherwise, drink away!
