Irrational fears?

This is my 5th pregnancy and I've had a LOT of bleeding.  I'm currently 12 weeks and they still haven't done the labs from my first visit because there has been too much bleeding.  The ultrasound showed a heartbeat and the cervix is long and closed (all good signs), but I can't shake the fear that I'm going to lose this baby.  We have 4 healthy boys and I'm so afraid that we're pushing our luck with a 5th.  After a week of not bleeding, I started again last night and I really can't think of anything that could have triggered it.  So, my question is: has anyone else dealt with this?  I could use some happy ending stories!

I agree with Snowdin28, bleeding is scary during pregnancy.  Although I didn't have a lot of bleeding with this one, I did bleed for about a day with this baby around 15 weeks.  I was concerned, and knew I'd be seeing my doctor in 3 days for an appointment.  I tried not to worry about it too much, and felt much better once I heard the heart beat.   Try not to stress yourself out too much.  My doctor told me at my appointment that it was really only a problem if there is cramping with the bleeding, or you're soaking more than a pad an hour.  I hope that's not your case, but make sure you voice your concerns to your doctor.

I have had lots of pink spotting. This is my fourth pregnancy, I have two living children and never had this problem with either of their pregnancies. The spotting seems to be related to over doing it though. If I lift something too heavy, or am out walking for too long etc. I'm 19 weeks and it still happens but everything is fine. I have heard many women talk about bleeding all through their pregnancy and the babies have turned out fine and healthy. It's always alarming to see blood when you are pregnant but if the ultrasounds have been good so far hopefully everything continues well with your baby. Best of luck :)

I wouldn't say your fears are "irrational". Bleeding is a scary thing, especially when you don't know what the cause is. Sometimes woman bleed during pregnancy and there is no obvious reason why. I'd try to relax as much as possible both physically and mentally. The baby has persevered thus far. Perhaps this is "normal" for your pregnancy.

I had bleeding during this pregnancy also. Never had an explanation. This is my 4th. I am now 31 weeks with our 3rd boy. I was just told to take it easy when I was having those problems. Second and third trimester I didn't have any more bleeding. Some women have bleeding their whole pregnancies and baby is just fine. Worrying won't do you any good. Good luck and just try to relax.
