im from the uk..but i thought that if they couldnt accomodate lighter duties..you had to be basically paid still but not work..if you have a drs certificate they have to act on it!!my sister worked in a residential college for teenagers with disabilities and wasnt allowed to lift or push wheelchairs etc through her pregnancy
Your boss is wrong. Usually midwives and OB/GYN tell us that we can't lift no more than 25 pounds I believe it is.
I had this exact same problem I'm from CA I took a Dr. Note to work with no lifting, pushing or pulling light duty only and they sent me home that same day. They said they had no such thing as light duty. So I talked to my Dr. And he said to get a note from work stating that they don't have work such a light duty for you due to pregnancy. Legally you can not be fired for being pregnant and you didn't quit I applied for unemployment and I am receiving it until ur 7 month then u apply for disability. They will try to make u open disability and not unemployment but u can apply for disability but the only way u qualify for disability with the new law is if u are on bed rest, bleeding or have had several miscarriages. Apply for unemployment and if they call you questioning you explain and fax them the letter from work. Best of luck.
Thanks everyone for your reply. I appreciate it all & gives me some mind of what to do in this situation. I will look into unemployment & disability. Thanks again and merry Christmas.
