@ Kermit: isit worth it,what if something happens to your baby,id advise u to stop immediately,ur first trimester the bby is very sensitive and ussualy 90% of ppl who miscarry are those in their first trimester..Rather be safe than sorry dear..
(Sorry it posted mid-type) done any sessions with it but I will have more consideration if/when we do. And something else to talk to midwife about when I finally meet her!
Thanks for the advice ladies.
. The problem at the moment I have is that my training partners don't know as it's early days still (my husband knows of course but no friends/family).I have told my instructors for safety reasons. I'm telling people I train with that I have a stomach injury at the moment& can't get hit there. No one there is nasty and as they are all men they are generally too aggressive with me as I'm the only woman! When I tell them pregnant it will be easier and loads less risk. I haven't seen a health professional face to face ye but when they tell me to stop I will.
Emilee, very sorry about your sister.
Kris-that's interesting to know - ju-jitsu is very different from what I do but we do floor work occasionally - since I've been pregnant we've not d
I used to do jiu-jitsu but stopped when i got pregnant with my son. I went back to it when he was about 6 months and now that im pregnant again i stopped. It can be really hard on your body and sometimes you don't realize when you've done something you shouldn't have.
One thing you guys need to be careful of it getting jarred or kicked especially in the stomach. Placental abruption can occur and that can happen really at any time after an accident, fall or a hard kick of course. The baby then can't get oxygen and can die if not delivered right away. That's why they recommend no rigorous jumping or high impact exercises. My sister was a gymnast and unfortunately lost her baby at 20 weeks. I would make sure to ask your doctor too. I'm pregnant with twins now and there is a whole list of things I was unaware of that I couldn't do that I could have if it was just one baby.
Glad I'm not the only one then! Today I got kicked in the stomach :/ it wasn't hard but it's still a bit worrying. As the embryo is low down in the pelvis right now I'm hoping it's not a big deal...
I actually take tae kwon do. I plan on doing as much as I can and continuing after the baby is born. I am also 7 weeks
