Rude comments and opinions vent!!!

Today I had someone try to sell the anti vaccination thing to me, when I politely explained I would be fully vaccinating my child they told me I was an un educated and bad mother... Now excuse me....

Vaccinations have removed deadly diseases such as whooping cough, polio, measles etc from our society, and the only reason we are seeing these diseases make an appearance again is because people do not vaccinate!! Now, I would rather run the very small risk of vaccination against seeing my baby almost dead with whooping cough in a hospital bed!!!  Yes there are risks with vaccinations, I get that I really do but seriously.. I wish it had told this person that they were the uneducated bad mother for not vaccinating!!!

There are risks with everything. When someone's baby who hasn't been vaccinated gets those horrible diseases they'll feel sorry. It's hard to talk about this topic because everyone has an opinion. However people who do vaccinate aren't hurting others but people who don't give the risk of spreading those horrible diseases that can be prevented . It's one of those things that will always be in debate

These days people think their opinion is fact and if you disagree you're wrong. I got into a fight with a random woman while pricing disposable diapers at a store. She came up to me and told me I was going to ruin my child and I was a horrible mother for not using cloth diapers. Needless to say she got the full brunt of my pregnancy fueled attitude.

I can't believe these people and not vaccinating. It's their choice to make. How do they bear watching their children suffer and die from a preventable illness to prevent them from having rare or possibly non existant side affects.

Both of my girls were vaccinated and I plan on vaccinating this baby as well. My 5 year old had only had one round of the pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine and at 3 months was diagnosed with it. Scariest thing I've ever lived through. Watching your baby struggle for breath is not worth it to me. I have read alot about not vaccinating and just don't feel that the risks outweigh the benefits.

There are multiple well done like large trials which show no link between vaccines and autism. Only 1 study showed a link and it has been widely discredited by the scientific community. Like any other medicine vaccines have side effects. However they are very uncommon and the benefits far out weigh the risks

@velasca idk. I just did as i was told when I had my first kid as I was 21. I never questioned a drs opinion  or anything really .i started reading n learning  more about natural medicine, organic food, toxins were exposes to n an overal healthy lifestyle in general as i got older. I also started reading about the supposed dangers of vaccines. I read about reasons why some ppl choose not to vaccinate their kids and it kind of scared me. Just for the record, my first daughter is perfectly healthy but idk I'm one of those mom's who goes online and sees every outcome that's possible with any decision I make for my kids. Like i said, idk if I will or will not..just trying to make a more informed decision this n do what I feel is best for my kids rather than just do what drs n the public tells me to. I blame the Internet for making me so paranoid!!! Lol. Just kidding

Magulair:I'm curious about your motivation though :) was something wrong with the vaccinating of your first child?

Toriajane: thats a good point. I've been wondering that too. Over here we had an outbreak of measles mumps, rubella and whooping cough all in one primary school last year. It was so odd.
the main people who most got ill where the teachers and parents though. Because the vaccine they give here protect a person for a maximum of 20 years after last given (which is at age 8 here)

I vaccinated my first daughter. I am on the fence about vaccinating this baby once she's born though. As I'm sure happens to a lot of women,  the longer I am am mom the more research I get into on how to keep my kids healthy. It is more likely that I will not comply with the full vaccination requirements for this baby. I would never call another women a bad mother for vaccinating her kids n would never try to force my opinion on others. It's your kid and as their mother what you believe is best for them should respecte...just like if I choose not to vaccinate my kid I would hope my choice would be respected

It's unfortunate that they went about it in the wrong way.  I don't think any body should push their opinions onto others then insult them for not agreeing.  I do vaccinate but have some friends who don't and they actually have some interesting things to say after researching the whole issue.  I've heard of a book called just a little prick but haven't personally read it. I don't believe the diseases are making a comeback due to the non vaccinated people.  I read that 70% of people who died from measles were actually vaccinated so yea definitely opens up the discussion for anyone interested.

I know what you mean hun. Sometimes they seem nearly religious about it.
Apparently it's hard for people to respect the fact that someone else has a different opinion and respect that.
If you do or don't vaccinate.. that is your choice, and while they may ask why you would choose that to understand your point of view,  it's no reason to disrespect your choice.

i myself will fully vaccinate my child to the standards in my country. . Yet in the Netherlands their are a few things that aren't vaccinated against that the usa has.
I don't feel bad for not vaccinating against something like chickenpox since it's not done around here and if treated in time it's considered harmless.
but I feel that if I can protect my child by vaccinating it against rubella or measles etc then i should.

In my opinion these vaccines are here for a reason and though I know some people say 'it gave their child autism' I have not seen any scientific evidence of that yet, and it might very well be that the child already had it, just wasn't noticed before.
And even then.. if the choice was a small risk of autism or a bigger risk of death/permanent harm, I feel my child would have a better life without me risking its life by not vaccinating.
Then again I might be biased, lost a friend as a teenager that wasnt vaccinated against meningitis

But it is something every parent should decide for themselves.
