Genetics does play a role, but I believe it's also lifestyle and how you treat your skin plays a big part.

I use Bio oil twice a day, I'm 30+1w now, so far no sign of stretchmarks.

Try to keep your skin in top shape,
Drink plenty of water, hydration is key.
Use cream/oils/butter daily.. Keep a small bottle in your handbag and put on a new layer during the day if necessary.

Stay out of the sun and cover up.
Never scratch, if you get itchy, put on oil and ignore it.. scratching can bring no good.. it won't help the itch..and most certainly will not help your skin.

You're still early, so no need to use as much/often yet.. as you get further along you can increase the times you use your products.

I started using it on a daily basis when I started showing.

Try not to gain unnecessary weight, eat healthy and stay away from the sweets.
The sweets are (in my opinion) never good for you or the baby. (Skin and body)

If you do get stretchmarks, best is to find a way to accept them, because sadly they will never 100% dissapear.
You can reduce the appearance of stretchmarks with help of lazer..( after birth of course!)
and keep in mind that they will fade with time.

Congratulations on your baby joy!

Its genetics hon. Your gonna get them if you get them. You can help them heal better and not be so obvious by keeping yourself and your skin hydrated and not scratching and keeping your weight gain under control. My feelings about stretch marks tho is I just grew a human, if something didn't happen to my body to show for it, I'd be surprised. And just freakin love yourself, who cares if you have stretch marks you earned that s***!

I basically use anything I can get my hands on !  Hahaha usually an oil at night and I lather up belly thighs and bum. Lotion in the am and after shower. There is no lotion or oil proven to actually help, but it can't hurt, right!?!?.  It is thought they are genetic and the things u can do to help prevent are to stay hydrated and gain weight at a slow,  steady, even pace. Good luck to us all!!!

Oh and I forgot to say... start now!!! Improve elasticity early and it'll make it a habit for you :)
I concentrate on my tummy (all around to the sides and as low as bikini line), breast area, lower back, hips and bum :) those seem to be the most affected areas in pregnancy.

It seems there's nothing that ultimately prevents stretch marks. U can only try to reduce ur chances by keeping moisturized. I use cocoa butter cream for stretch marks but I've also used any vitamin E rich creams as it's helps with skin elasticity. I rub after every shower or Everytime I get wet. So at least twice a day. Make sure u don't scratch so make sure ur never too dry. Another thing is to try not to gain too much weight too fast - that will def increase ur chances. I'm 37wks with 22 days left and so far I only have a tiny mark by my navel piercing...barely noticeable. Hopefully there's no more to come! Good luck momma!!!

I started early with my first son. Used vE oil and lotion. Didn't help but I only got them on the back part of my hips (like where a muffin top would b.) With my second, I just used lotion every night (mostly bc I have a navel piercing and was terrified it would tear) on my belly and breasts and I didn't get any extra stretch marks. Don't know what will happen with this one but I'm lotioning up after every shower and at night just in case lol
