I was ordered to get it at 28 weeks by a stand in midwife but I re booked an appointment with my own midwife to talk about it before I do as not to sure about it :)
I took it today and I am experiencing itchy throat, ears and coughing. I was told it did not have any side a effects from my Dr. However I did not have any of these symptoms prior to the shot. Just an update ladies....
I dont ever do a flu shot....just my preference. ..but I did get the whooping cough vac. After my little man was born...it was not offered while I was pregnant and even if it was I would opt to wait until baby was born!
A few years ago there was a rise in whopping cough in adults. Babies dont have the antibodies to fight it off. I was told by my doc that getting it around the third trimester helps to protect the baby also. They gain some of the vaccine and are more protected than those who don't get the vaccine.
If you get the vaccine after baby is out, your body will make antibodies and pass them on through breast milk -so if you're planning on breast feeding then you can feel safer waiting
I feel a little bit more at ease about it thank you ladies!!!!!
Same here I don't remember getting it with my first child 7 yrs ago!
I didnt have it with my first. With my second I got it in the hospital after I had him and this time I got it at about 32 weeks.
Thank you she wants to give it to me on my 28th week visit! I'm considering it, just nervous when it come to vaccinations.
I got told to have it, thonk I was maybe 28wks I dont remember having it with my first tho, arm hurt a lil but no side effects :)
Im 32 weeks and I just had the whooping cough vaccine. My doctor recommended that I get it already since it takes 2 months for it to take effect, which is around the time my baby will be born. The only effect I felt was that my arm felt bruised or sore for 3 days but now its gone. I decided to take it because I want to do everything possible to protect my baby girl and wouldnt want to risk her catching anything from me. Im also going to ask my family to take it if they havent taken their tetnus shot yet. My doctor said if they have had their tetnus shot within the last 5 years they should be fine without taking it again. I also took my flu shot months ago in my 1st trimesterand I havent caught a cold throughout my pregnancy. I didnt feel any bad side effects.
My Dr wants to give it to me while I'm pregnant I'm currently 27wks 3days. She says it's to make the baby immune to it. Just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing! Did you have any side affects?
Its more to protect them cuz we usually can fight it off but they cant I also optd out for the flu one but after my last 2 c sections they always give me the other
Yes get it they usually give it to u once little ones born
