I have Crohn's also. I'm pregnant with my second child and have not had a problem either time. However, my doctors did tell me that if you're Crohn's is under control when you get pregnant, it's likely that your condition will stay the same or get better during pregnancy. If you're having a flare up or the disease is not controlled well when you get pregnant it will likely get worse.

In terms of medication I would trust your doctors here. If you're in pain and they're putting you on steroids the benefits must outweigh the risks. I took mesalamine during my first pregnancy and my son was completely fine. I'm taking it again this time and all is well. If you're nervous about the steroids I would ask if there's an alternative option.

You asked about size of the baby. My son was just under 10 lbs at birth. Big boy.

I hope this helps. Good luck and congrats!
